Jeremy Kennedy Returns!

Vancouver born Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Jeremy Kennedy has a huge fight coming up!

Jeremy started his fighting journey with local MMA coach Shawn Albrecht at the young age of 13.

Jeremy quickly soared through the MMA ranks with a impressive 8-0 record in Battle Field Fight League (BFL) to start his career.

Jeremy was then signed to the UFC and went 3-0 before facing off against now pound for pound #1 fighter in the world Alexander Volkanovski. Volkanovski ended Kennedys 11-0 win streak and Kennedy left the UFC to pressure other opportunities.

Kennedy bounced around promotions for a little bit, picking up a few wins before landing in Bellator MMA. Jeremy won his first few fights in Bellator and was matched up against rising star Aaron Pico. Not many people expected Kennedy to win this fight, but Jeremy got the job done by doctor stoppage after the first round.

Now Jeremy will face off against his toughest test to date Pedro Carvalho. Pedro fights out of SBG Ireland (the same gym as the notorious Conor McGregor) and he is ranked #3 in the Bellator featherweight division.

This will be a tough fight for Jeremy but Kennedy has proved he’s able to rise to the challenge before.

Watch Vancouver local Jeremy Kennedys next fight February 25th.

Jericho Cruise!

Canadian superstar Chris Jericho is back on the Jericho Cruise.

Well known for his time in WWE/WWF, Chris Jericho was widely regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the company at the time. Jericho has recently left the WWE and now occasionally wrestles for AEW.

Jericho is also a member of popular band Fozzy. Jericho is the lead singer of the band which helped the band grow a ton due to his individual popularity.

Now Chris Jericho has decided to combined his two passions on the Jericho Cruise.

Jericho Cruise is a cruise that is run once a year by Chris Jericho himself.

The cruise is jam packed with events.

The cruise hosts wrestling matches from Jericho himself and fellow AEW stars. Past cruises have seen wrestling matches with the likes of Ric Flair, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Adam Page, Kurt Angle, and more!

The cruise also has live performances from Jericho and his band Fozzy. The band performs on a large stage for fans and Jericho wraps up every cruise with a show.

Chris Jerichos 2023 cruise just wrapped up so fans will have to wait another year if they want to join the next one, but this truly is the ultimate experience for Wrestling, Fozzy, and Chris Jericho fans.

Canadian Wrestler Shows Support For Brian Cage!

Chris Jericho supports Brian Cage in his hope of being re-signed by All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

After taking a break from television Brian Cage finally made his return to wrestling these past few weeks.

Cage had a match with fan favourite Bryan Danielson on Dynamite, and fans were happy to see him back. While Cage is going on a tear in other independent promotions rumours are circulating that Cages contract is coming to a close with AEW and he is yet to re-sign.

Chris Jericho took notice to that issue and expressed that he thinks Cage should be re-signed by the company:

“I think Brian Cage over the last six months is the best Brian Cage has ever been. I think he’s finally starting to understand some of the psychology of wrestling rather than just moves and that sort of thing. He is one of a kind with his size and agility, but now there is more intensity and I think he’s really understanding who he is as a wrestler. Six months ago, I might have said well whatever, if he stays that’s cool. But now I think he has become a way more valuable part of our roster and I would sign him for sure. Absolutely.”

This statement will hold a lot of weight with the AEW higher ups as Chris Jericho has proved he knows what hes talking about when it comes to wrestling.

Lets hope Cage can re-sign and repay Jericho for his kind words in some tag-team action soon!

The Canucks Name New Team Captains?

The Vancouver Canucks have named their new team captain. For now?

The captain spot will be shared by Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson, J.T Miller, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The four men will all wear A’s on their jerseys until the organization finds a full time captain.

This move is a interesting one even for the Canucks.

Elias Pettersson seemed to be the clear front runner over the past few days and Patrick Allvin and Rick Tocchet both hinted that Pettersson alone would get the captain spot.

So why did the team not make the decision at this time? It could be because new head coach Rick Tocchet hasn’t had enough time with the team yet to decide who is a leader amongst the group. Maybe if the Canucks wouldn’t have fired their old head coach Bruce Boudreau at the same time as they traded their captain we wouldn’t be having this problem right now.

Regardless, even though Pettersson has been performing phenomenally being a captain also involves how you are as a leader for the team. Rick Tocchet will need time to assess if Pettersson is that guy for the team or not.

Time will tell who Tocchet names as the full time team captain but for now we have to deal with another set back for the Canucks and watch four men from the same team compete against each other for the captain spot.

Why Is Lance Stroll Still A Formula One Driver?

Lance Stroll is a Canadian born Formula One driver.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CL931PnHbUb/?igshid=NDk5N2NlZjQ=

Lance has been in the sport for many years now, but fans question if Lance Stroll is still there because of his skills behind the wheel, or because his dad is the owner of the team.

Lawrence Stroll is a Canadian Billionaire and has bought into Aston Martin Racing with the sole purpose of supporting his son Lances efforts to become a Formula One world champion.

However, time after time Lance comes up short to his teammates, losing to Sebastian Vettel two years in a row, losing to Sergio Checo Perez the year before that, and getting zero points for his team two years in a row before that.

While these drivers he’s losing to are top tier in the sport, any other driver would have been fired a long time ago for failure to compete at a consistent level with their teammate.

While it’s lucky for Lance that he won’t get fired due to a bad season, it’s attracted him lots of hate from fans who make it very clear they don’t think he deserves to be in Formula one.

While those fans may be right, Lance doesn’t deserve hate as he’s a super nice guy. The reality is that even with the multiple hate comments Lance Stroll could stay in Formula One for as long as his dad will continue to fund his dream.

Cody Rhodes Calls Out Canadian Legend!

Cody Rhodes is on top of the pro wrestling world right now.

Cody returned from a horrifying bicep tear, to win the WWE Royal Rumble.

Cody Confirmed that he will face Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania but Cody has his sights set on another wrestler in the WWE right now though.

When asked in an interview who Cody would like to wrestle most in the company right now, Cody took the chance to call out the Canadian Rated R superstar Edge!

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CoTNzWLpXKd/?igshid=NDk5N2NlZjQ=

Cody said that it’s not personal he just doesn’t know how much time Edge has left in the WWE and wants to get a match in before he goes.

Cody also said that when he had his first run with the company Edge was the locker room leader, and saw Cody as a little kid. Cody said he wants to remind Edge that he’s not a little kid anymore.

This would be a super entertaining match as both men are willing to take risks and have shown over many years in the sport that they can put on five star matches.

Time will tell if this match will happen though as both men are on different trajectories in the company right now. Edge is currently feuding with Judgement Day and as Cody said he doesn’t have much time left in his career. Cody is currently preparing for his match up with the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania.

The Raptors Beat The Grizzlies!

The Raptors showed they can battle back tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies!

Nobody expected the Raptors to win this game coming in. The Raptors are currently ranked twelfth in the east while the Grizzlies are ranked second in the west. To be fair most of the Raptors losses were very closely contested games but that just confirms the beliefs that the team has no ability to finish down the stretch.

It was a close back and forth game with both teams having their moments. The Grizzlies were able to hold on to the lead for the first three quarters and it looked as though the Raptors were going to lose yet another close game. If only they had the ability to battle back in these situations…

Enter Scottie Barnes.

Scottie Barnes put in a terrific effort in the fourth quarter and helped the Raptors fight back to get the win that nobody expected.

Final score was 106-103 for the Toronto Raptors.

Fans were surprised by the teams effort down the stretch tonight but welcomed a win for the Canadian team.

The Raptors will face the Spurs Wednesday at home.

Bo Horvat Passes The Torch To Elias Pettersson!

Bo Horvat and Elias Pettersson connected for one last goal together during the 2023 All Star game.

At the beginning of the game Horvat and Pettersson skated up to each other while mic’d up and started a conversation. The men can be heard saying “one last time,” and Horvat suggested that the pair try to connect for one last goal together.

And connect they did.

Horvat brought the puck up the ice and passed it across to Pettersson who shot it in to get his first of two goals for the All Star game. The two embraced and Horvat exclaimed “we did it!”

Then on the bench Pettersson pulled Horvat in for another hug and a tap on the head.

This felt like a passing of the torch moment for the Vancouver Canucks.

Horvat has led the team for the past four years and been a Canuck for nine years.

Elias Pettersson is basically confirmed to take the captains spot from Bo so when Horvat passed the puck to Pettersson for their last ever connection together, it felt like a significant changing of the guards moment within the actual team.

It would have been nice to see the pair connect for one last goal as actual Canucks before Horvat was traded, but this All Star game goal feels like a happy ending for the pair.

We Could All Learn Something From This Soccer Team!

We could all learn a lesson from the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes are a team complied of 8 year old soccer players out of Maple Ridge. They’re led by head coach Andrew McBoyle, long time soccer player and enthusiast. While Andrew may be experienced in the sport, he had no idea how challenging it would be to coach a team:

“I have played my whole life and am still currently playing. Coaching the kids quickly had me realize just how much more difficult it is to teach something than to do it. Trying to explain a game I know so well seemed so simple, but then you realize you’re talking to a bunch of kids who’ve never played and don’t know the terms and sayings and rules at all. You have to go all the way back to basics and really simplify the game and break it down step by step in the simplest of forms. I’ve always respected my coaches over my life, but it really gave me a new higher level of respect and gratitude for all the volunteer coaches from my childhood who gave up their own free time so me and my teammates could play the sports we loved.”

Andrew has started to find his groove as a coach though and has enjoyed watching the team develop over the course of the season:

“The best part of coaching the kids is watching their skill set slowly get better, seeing the things you try to teach them in practice start to show up in the games. Which in turn starts to boost their confidence, and usually leads to them having more fun and enjoying themselves even more. It’s so rewarding.”

While their skills continue to develop, this season has presented some challenging games for the Hurricanes. However, winning isn’t what it’s all about for Andrew:

“Seeing the kids really start to become a team, rather than a group of random kids, winning and losing together really bonds a group. It’s very cool to watch first hand.”

The kids sure seem to agree as well. Harrison, a younger member of the Hurricanes says his favourite part of the game is “that I get to see my teammates every time.”

The Hurricanes are a true testament to the fact that winning or losing doesn’t matter at the younger ages, as long as you’re having fun!

Wrexham Comes To The United States!

Vancouver born actor Ryan Reynolds recently started a new venture of owning a football team in Wales.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CoNGPXFoSvM/?igshid=NDk5N2NlZjQ=

Now he is taking his team to the United States to play in a one million dollar winner takes all tournament.

Since Reynolds bought the team they have skyrocketed to new heights. You can read all about the teams rise to fame and how they’ve soared through the ranks as of late here:

Ryan Reynolds Owns A Football Team!

Now Reynolds is looking to take his team to the next level once again by entering them in “The Soccer Tournament” (TST).

The event will be held June 1st-4th in North Carolina and will host 32 teams. Wrexham is the ninth team to confirm their entry in the tournament so far.

This event will mark the first time ever that Wrexham will come to the United States, since the club was founded in 1864.

Club advisor Shaun Harvey shared his excitement of the team making the journey to the U.S:

“We look forward to debuting in the U.S. with a legends team and the ambition of winning the tournament,”

Harvey referred to a legends team, as the squad that plays will be mostly be made up of past players for the club:

“Wrexham AFC is more than just a first team, It represents the people of North Wales and this tournament will allow us to incorporate former players of the club like we have never been able to do before.”

Lets hope the underdogs that are Wrexham can get the job done and take home the cash prize!
