A New Fast-Food Restaurant in Vancouver!

Fast food restaurants are everywhere in Canada. They swarm every city of it. Today, it is rare to see a town in Canada that does not have any fast-food chain hanging around. Every town, even the small ones you go might have one or more of it. In Vancouver alone, there are 26 outlets of McDonald’s. it has one of the highest numbers for a city in entire Canada. In the country, there are a whooping 1,448 McDonalds’ location across it, and that is just one brand of fast-food restaurant. Brands like Dairy Queen, Burger King, Chipotle, and more are starting to pick their pace in Canada’s fast-food popularity world.

Right now, the largest fast-food chain in Canada is Tim Hortons with its 4,268 locations across the country followed by Subway with 3,148 location. This is not really surprising since Timmy’s is originated from Canada. With the growth of the fast-food industry in Vancouver what is the harm if we add another one in the city? One that is unique and fairly new to international branch in the western hemisphere. It is one of the most popular fast-food chain in Asia. One that rivals even McDonalds there.

Jollibee Foods Corporation is a Filipino fast-food chain that is becoming popular worldwide. Reviews of the fast-food are all over social media. Right now, Jollibee has seventeen locations here in Canada and there first location of it here is in Winnipeg last 2016. Surprisingly, there is none here in Vancouver yet. It is sad, the only we could try Jollibee’s yummy foods before is if we drive south to Seattle USA or do a 14-hour long drive east going to our neighboring province Alberta, in the city of Calgary. Other big Canadian cities such as Toronto, Edmonton, and Regina have their own store already. I don’t know about you, but as a Vancouverite, I get jealous when I see someone from other city in social media having something that you can’t get from your own city.

However, Vancouver is planning to have one of its own. According to an online writer Meagan Gill, Vancouver Jollibee will be opening its door at 833 Granville Street. It is close to the intersection of Granville and Robson Street in the center of Downtown Vancouver. Although the exact date of opening is not publicize yet, the renovation of the area is already completed and expected to be having its opening in middle of summer or in the late ber Months of this year. Not only that, but there are also other restaurants that will be opening this year including an Alberta-based beer hall restaurant Craft Beer Market will at 1795 Beach Avenue Downtown Vancouver, or Menya Itto, the most famous restaurant in Japan some say, will be opening one of its doors at 1479 Robson Street.

The hype is everywhere for this new fast-food restaurant that is soon to come. However, what is Jollibee? How did it began? In 1975, a man named Tony Tan Caktiong and his family decided to open a Magnolia ice cream parlor in Cubao, Quezon city in the Philippines. On a later date they began to serve not only ice cream, but also hot foods and beverages. As the ice cream parlor progress, they noticed that their food options are becoming more popular than their signature cold treats. Management consultant Manuel C. Lumba advised the family to change their strategy, and so they did. From an ice cream parlor, it became a fast-food restaurant and renamed as Jollibee.

Jollibee

Jollibee experienced a rapid growth in the Philippines. It made seven outlets just in a year with its first branch opened in Santa Cruz, Manila. The fast-food restaurant became so popular not only in the capital, but also in every provinces of the Philippines as it spread like wildfire in the country. It was able to stand its ground against the introduction of McDonald’s in the Philippines in 1981. You know McDonald’s is a powerhouse when it comes to fast-food industry and to be able to withstands that is almost impossible. However, Jollibee not only survived, but it also rivaled the famous American fast-food company.

Jollibee continued to expand and set up its outlet both in the country and abroad. There first branch outside the country was in Taiwan, in 1986 which is now close. However, Jollibee grew its popularity in Asia, and it spread as far as middle east and after, Europe. Now, it also being introduce in America.

Jollibee's Signature Fried Chicken & Spaghetti Meal .... Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Jollibee’s products have its own uniqueness to it. It is a combination of a western and exotic Filipino style cuisine, a brilliant idea that gave birth to delicious food products we can savor and consume. At first, they would seem to look familiar since the products are disguise in western motifs. However, once you sink your teeth onto it, unfamiliar flavours that most people had never tried before will cover your mouth and leave you in awe with its delicious goodness.

The most popular product of Jollibee by far would probably be the Jollibee Chickenjoy. Other people say that the product is better than other products of some fast-food chains, I am not saying what the names are. Jollibee Chickenjoy marination and seasoning ingredients are secret recipes that only several people know. Even employees do not know what is in it. In 2019, Chickenjoy was cited as the best-seller fast-food brand in every market in the world. This meal can be ordered in several ways, you can order it in bucket, in a value meal, or you can order with Jolly Spaghetti which is a Filipino style spaghetti with sweet tomato sauce, hotdogs, and cheese as toppings.

There are also other products such as the Yumburger with its another version the Hawaiian Yumburger, and the Palabok, an extremely popular Filipino food containing rice noodles, shrimps, and palabok sauce. The most famous dessert of the restaurant is probably the peach-mango pie. With its good combination of crispy shell outside, and the gooey and chunky mixture of mango and peach filling inside, there was no doubt that the product became a popular treat in its new branches, with the reviews of youtubers saying that they like it the most.

Diversity

Jollibee, and other brands such as Tim Hortons, chipotle, Jordan sushi, Coco bubble tea, FKC, Starbucks Nando’s and more are a proof of how diverse we truly are now here in Canada and this is a good way to say that every ethnic group of people in this country is well respected and appreciated.

Burrard Inlet Project

If you think about the most isolated city in Vancouver, most people will probably think about the Northern most part of Vancouver. North Shore is quite isolated from the rest of Vancouver. Its not because of its proximity, but because the city is separated by a body of water, more specifically the Burrard Inlet.

Unlike the rest of the city, there are only three options for people to go to North Vancouver and vice versa. It is either going through the first Narrows bridge (Lion’s Gate Bridge), the Second Narrows Bridge (Ironworkers memorial Bridge), or the most popular, Sea bus ride. the two bridges are famous for its traffic, especially during busy hours. People tend to get stuck during busy times for as long as an hour. It is not convenient for people especially for the ones who live in North Van and have to work or go to school somewhere else. With North Vancouver’s growing community, transportation will most likely be a future problem not only for the North Shore residents, but for the Entire Vancouver.

“I usually wake up at 5:00 in the morning to prepare and could go to school without any traffic to delay the bus. This way I won’t get late if something happens that could create traffic.” – Faith Gazmen, Former BCIT Student

Although there are a lot of things to be done. The process Burrard Inlet Rapid Transit project that was proposed in 2018 are doing its best to progress. It is a project that plans to create a way for SkyTrain going to the North Shore. The main purpose of the project is to add an additional and quicker route for people to choose going to other cities of Vancouver. It will also help to ease down the traffic of both First and Second Narrows Bridge.

Skytrain

The specific plan is to make an underground tunnel across Burrard Inlet. However, they needed to study the underwater landscape of the Inlet so that Engineers and Architects could calculate, and plan out how would they approach the creation of the route. On September 9, 2020, the most anticipated stage 2 of Burrard Inlet Rapid Transit Study was released in public. The project’s initial stage was led by North Vancouver MLA Bowinn Ma.

“People living in North Vancouver are eager to embrace socially, environmentally responsible ways to travel that allow them to beat the traffic.” – Bowinn Ma

The stage 2 talks about the technical feasibility of creating a transit crossing from Vancouver to the North Shore across Burrard Inlet. As a result, the team have thought of five possible crossing options for the train. All routes could work that is why it is difficult right now to chose what is best for everybody. In the meantime, the team together with Transport 2050 is under planning process where they ask people’s opinions and peripherals about what the best and most efficient route is would be to choose for the community.

Lion's Gate Bridge

The five possible crossing are labeled with five distinct colours for the people to understand. First is the blue zone. The Blue Zone was planned to start from Burrard station going through Stanley Park. At the very northern part of Stanley Park, just after the First Narrows Bridge, they will be digging underwater tunnelling over to the western part of North Shore, in Park Royal Shopping Centre area. after that, the route will go east ending to the central part of Lonsdale avenue.

The Second one is the Red Zone. This route is fairly similar to the Blue Zone. It Starts from Burrard as well, but instead of going through the entire Stanley Park, the starting point will be at Brockton Point tunneling straight over to North Vancouver’s Capilano Mall instead of Park Royal Shopping Centre. The end of the route will be at Central Lonsdale as well, at 15 Street.

The Green Zone is the third option. This option is the shortest option of them and will going to be the worst enemy of North Vancouver’s Sea bus Transportation. The starting point of the Green Zone will be at the Terminus Station Waterfront. Then they will be digging underwater tunnelling out to North Van’s Lonsdale Quay continuing to Central Lonsdale. After that, the route will go east ending at Park Royal Shopping Center. It maybe the shortest of the five, but it has the longest and the deepest underwater tunnel out of them.

Ironworkers Memorial

The fourth route is the Yellow Zone. The Yellow Zone starts at Terminus Station Waterfront, then the route will go east along Hastings Street. After that, it goes North crossing the Burrard Inlet and out to Phibbs Exchange Bus Terminal. In this route, there will be no underwater tunnel due to the previous bridge that fell before. Instead, the train rail will be made by connecting it along Ironworkers Memorial Bridge. From Phibbs Exchange, the route will go west, and the end of the station will be at Lower Lonsdale.

The Next and final route is the Purple Zone, the most unique of the five. Instead of starting at Downtown Vancouver, the very first station of this route will be at Brentwood Station in Burnaby. The second stop will be at Boundary Station, then it goes up north crossing the Burrard Inlet along the Ironworker Memorial Bridge just like the Yellow Zone. The next stop will be at Phibbs Exchange, then the trail will go west ending at Lower Lonsdale as well.

With this Options, what would be the best and most sensible one to choose? In my opinion, I think The Blue Zone will be the most Beneficial of them all and the green Zone is the least. The Western and Central part of North Shore are the busiest part of the area with its most popular shopping district Park Royal in the west and North Van’s Downtown area at central. Blue Zone will be a great pick since it goes through West and ends up at Central of North Van. Not only that, but Blue Zone also starts at Downtown Vancouver, which is pretty much connected to everything including train routes going to other cities. The underwater tunnel will also add character to the city and would be a hit for tourist attraction. Although I have a feeling that the Bridge route of the purple and yellow zone would be more popular to the tourist because of the view it will going to have.

There are two reasons of why the Green Zone is a risky idea. My first reason is that the structure of the underground tunnel is dangerous. The underwater landscape of the area is the lowest of the three which means water pressure will be higher in that dept. my second reasoning is that according to the authorities, they will close the Sea Bus Transportation in exchange to making the Green Zone. For me, it’s better to give North Van an additional route instead of changing one of its routes into a more convenient one, because adding will significantly ease up the flow of transportation. Changing it will just ease up the busyness a little bit. The Sea bus transportation is one of North Van’s traits as well; without it, North Vancouver will lose some of its individuality.

The Bad Side. Vancouver’s worst place.

Vancouver is a place that is must to visit. The provides wide variety of things to satisfy visitors. From snow sports like skiing, outdoor ice hokey, and snowboarding to summer activities such as hiking, biking, and strolling to see some of the most beautiful scenery of mountain and ocean views you will ever see. Like other cities however, Vancouver also has its fair share of bad side; a place that is branded as the worst neighborhood in the city.

Downtown Eastside (DTES) is located between Gastown and Grandview Woodland and known to be the poorest part of entire Vancouver. The area is famous for its high level of community disorder like homelessness, sickness, sex trafficking, and Illegal drug use. The reputation of the place is so bad that Basketball player Danny Green who visited the place said that East Hastings Street is the worst street in North America.

However Downtown Eastside was significantly different a few decades ago if you compare it to the present. In the late 90’s and early 2000’s, Downtown Eastside was the center of Vancouver’s political and cultural activities. It was booming with its community and said to be a best place to visit if you want to see what Vancouver is like. Overtime, the place gradually lost its reputation and went downhill from what it was before due to bad decisions to the place.

under arrest DTES Vancouvers DTES

It started when the authorities decided to do a process of gentrification for the place. They thought that it would be better to make the area to be more tourist attraction-oriented than being a neighborhood-oriented place, but they were wrong. With all the new buildings, hotels and condominiums that was not affordable for the residents, low-income houses were mitigated, and large numbers of people were kicked out of their homes. By mid 90’s, numbers of homeless people within the area emerged. They occupied and sleeps in alleyways and parks of the place. With the economy on a decline, the presence of the drugs emerges and thicken in the area. the presence of illegal activities continues to pull the city down until the place became the Downtown Eastside that we know today.

By far, the most famous attribute that the place is known to us is its economy of illegal drugs. The most famous hard drug being sold and use within the area is crack cocaine. However illegal injectable drugs such as opioid drugs, fentanyl and crystal meth are also popular in the area. drug movements do not stop even when there’s daylight, but evening is when it at its peak. Providers such as gang groups and illegal business owners usually resupplies pushers and members in the area at night. Then, pushers sell their product incognito anytime a customer approach them. There are many people who are drug addicts in the area. You can always find them roaming in the streets of East Hastings or hanging in their home at Strathcona Park. In these places, you will see things like syringe and excess portions of blunt wraps on every sides and corners of the place, or sometimes, being use.

2014 - Vancouver - Street Sleeper - 2 of 2

The residents of the homeless community in DTES survives in quite a few ways. Most of the way they get money will messed up your mind. Proven stories like people would sell body parts they cut off from their neighbors or serves you with cooked male genital parts as food. Others would also pickpocket passersby and rob houses. It is recommended to not walk in the area alone, specially at night. The most famous way to earn money, specifically for woman, is probably sex work. Selling your body for pleasure is the easiest way to make a good buck for women in the street of DTES. An estimation of over a thousand sex workers are found in Vancouver and most of them are in DTES area. These survival sex workers must do it in order to support daily needs such food, shelter and of course, illegal substances.

With its bad environment, there is no doubt the place is concentrated with different kinds of diseases. Ones that could easily spread within the population of the area. According to a study made in 2013, 70% of the residents at DTES was confirmed to have Hepatitis C. that is more than half of the population with a deadly and easily spread disease. HIV is also highly concentrated within the community with 18% positive estimated. Tuberculosis and skin infections are common to the residents as well, due to their use of hard drugs and blunts. Residents say you will always hear ambulance sirens every single night in the area.

People of the Eastside does not only suffers from physical illnesses. In fact, mental illness is a more serious topic compared to their physical well being. It’s not really surprising, most residents of the area are drug addicts, alcoholic and have horrible traumas. Many of them are involved with traumatic experiences caused by their bad environment as a child. Residents would tell stories about them being mentally and sexually abuse by people and residential schools, sometimes even by their own parents.

DTES

As I mentioned earlier, one of the biggest issues of the area is homelessness. There are more than two thousand people estimated that are identified as homeless in DTES. Most of them can be found in the tent city of Strathcona Park, south of the area. The rest are found hanging ang sleeping around alleys and streets of East Hastings or close by. As bad as it sounds, the neighborhood is not in chaos. They are quite united as a community. You can say that they are a well organized and neat community compared to what is expected. Residents would say they love living there despite the harsh environment. The area is not that dangerous at all. In fact, there are other areas in Vancouver that is far more dangerous than the place.

Despite all the problems of Eastside, authorities are doing their best to bring back the area’s former glory. Last October 2020, the Vancouver City Council approved a $30 million dollar budget to house Vancouver’s homeless residents in hotels and commercial sites. They partnered with Jericho Hostel and 2400 motel at the time. Although it is mainly because for Covid-19 protection, it is also to help people to jump start their life again. This year, they acquired six more buildings including Patricia Hotel and Ramada Hotel for the housing.

Authorities are also doing its best to treat and help people’s health in the area. Vancouver Coastal Health Chief Dr. Patricia Daly reported that they will be facilitating health programs. They will be helping to prevent the use of illegal substances, treating people with disorders, and donating regulated supply of drugs and supplements.

DTES is trying its best to stand up again and from the looks of it, it’s working. With a right amount of perseverance and a plenty amount of patience, it’s not going to be surprising if the place becomes rich again.

Vancouver is still fun! Covid times

With the increase in numbers of Covid-19 during the past few months, a stronger restriction had been accepted. The freedom of the citizens has now again mitigated. Don’t get me wrong, it is understandable that the restriction is a must and needs to be followed, but boredom will be the devil that whispers in the left side of your ears. Luckily, the restriction is not entirely means lock down. There are wholes and cracks for us to find ways of having fun during this Covid time. Extroverts will be happy to hear this!

First, let us take a look at the restrictions created and passed by the Provincial Health Officer (PHO). It is said that indoor gatherings are not allowed. Things such as indoor birthday parties, clubs, indoor sports, or a simple house visit are not allowed for a moment no matter how small the size of the gathering is. However, there are indoor places opened that could satisfy your boredom even if you are alone or just with people in your household. Museums are a good example of that. Restaurants also disabled their inside dinning areas since it is now restricted to eat inside of restaurants. Although take out foods, delivery, and outside dinning areas are still available for us to use. We could definitely take advantage of that!

Portrait with Covid mask.

For outside gatherings, people are only allowed to gather up to 10 people at a time, and it should the same people always. You cannot be on a gathering of ten with people that were not from your last gathering. Group sports that involve more than one person, indoor or outdoor, are not allowed. However, practices and drills are allowed so long as they stay six feet apart. Despite with these strict regulations it is still possible gather and have fun with your bubble of friends.

As I mentioned earlier, Museums are the perfect places to go without having to worry about breaking the restrictions. On top that, there are many museums that are waiting to be visited. One of the museums are called The Vancouver Police Museum. It is located in the city’s coroner’s office at Cordova Street, Vancouver. It is quite a small museum but pack with attractions and importance as it exhibits the history of crime and law enforcement of Vancouver. It also holds the title of the oldest police museum in North America.

science world

Quarantine will be more hectic if you have kids around, especially during weekends! As we all know, kids usually have a very short patience. They are active all the time which they are supposed to be. The Vancouver Science World will be the perfect place for them to go. located at the eastern side of False Creek, just at Quebec Street, The Science World is one of the unique places you could visit in Vancouver. With its shiny oval shaped building, you can never miss it when you drive through. It’s not only a fun place for the kids to go, but it also teaches them about science with its educational science shows that is active all through out the day. Topics such as gravity and human body could be learned and understood easily with its well put visuals and simple provided explanations. Although the place is meant for kids, people of all ages are also to welcome to check the place.

If you are an art person, why not visit the infamous Vancouver’s Art Gallery? You can enjoy looking at many collections of arts made by B.C. and Vancouver’s famous artists. It is also known to be holding one of the best photographic collections in North America. Works of a famous Canadian painter Emily Carr are also present in the place. With her indigenous inspired paintings such as the Big Raven, she will captivate you by wonderful stories through your eyes. They also exhibit not only paintings, but many more kinds of arts such as drawings, sculptures, and ceramic works. Famous International artist are also represented in the place.

Outside of the building is the Gallery Plaza. Usually, the place would be busy since it’s a place that is always chosen for many celebrations and activities like festivals and concerts. With Covid around, the place is pretty much empty right now. However, it could still be a fun place to go for sight seeing the city life, and in July, we can still enjoy the Summer Movie Nights that takes place every Wednesday.

Stanley Park views

Speaking of sight seeing, what about visiting some of Vancouver’s Beautiful sights! There are plenty of famous places, as well as hidden gems that are tucked in the cities of Vancouver.

If you want to see a gorgeous scenery of a beach, there are plenty of place to go to. One of the famous and biggest would probably be Stanley Park. There are lots of things and activities to see and do in Stanley Park. One of them to just stroll around and enjoy the beautiful beach scenery of the place. Another to ride a bike around it with family or anyone in your bubble. The Stanley Park is an excessively big place, with its area estimated to be 4 km^2. It would normally take 3 hours to walk around Stanley Park and 1 hour to bike it. There are also many places that you must stop by during the walk or the ride, things such as lookouts, points, and even eateries. Brockton Point would probably one of the well visited area in Stanley Park. It has an open area you can lay on and totem poles to look at, but its historical mini lighthouse is what the place is famous for.

For people who wants to do fitness or challenging activities, why not go for a hike. There are plenty of hiking spots here in Vancouver. I recommend going to the North Shore to do a Grouse grind. What is a Grouse grind you ask? Well, it basically means going for a hike in one of the toughest trails in Vancouver, The Grouse Mountain Trail. It is a very steep with an 800-meter elevation for only 3-kilometers of horizontal travel. They said the toughest area of the trail is its section with a steepness of about 40 degrees. You must be prepared physically and mentally before accepting the challenge. After, the grind why not visit Lonsdale Quay? There are plenty of restaurants located in the Quay Market, you will the difficulty to choose one. You can also enjoy the seaside scenery of the shipyard.

These are just some of the places you can visit in the cities of Vancouver during Covid-19 times, there are a lot more!

Gang-related Shooting frightens people.

Recently, Vancouver people are getting more frightened and scared as time passes. Who wouldn’t be! With all the gang-related shootings and killings that happened this year, even the bravest ones probably wouldn’t dare to come out their houses.

It was estimated that there have been 15 gang-related murders just in this year of 2021. Recently, three steady incidents were reported within a one-week span. Two are confirmed gang related, and the last one is still under investigation.

The very first incident happened outside of Caradero’s Restaurant in Downtown Vancouver. A 31-year-old Abbotsford Local Hapreet Singh Dhaliwal was shot dead at around 8:30 pm, Saturday, 17 of April. According to the investigation, Mr. Dhaliwal and his two other brothers are linked to the infamous Brothers Keepers Gang as members. The two brothers of Hapreet were nearby when the incident happened. His older brother Barinder who saw his lifeless corpse was in agony as he screams and tries to approach his brother’s dead body. However, the police had to stop him from coming in closer to the body as they were under investigation.

Gangsters!

Three days after the murder of Mr. Dhaliwal, another incident happened outside of Sportflex in Langley. 46-year-old Todd Gouwenberg was also shot dead in the morning of Wednesday, April 21. The investigators later found out that Todd was an MMA fighter as they saw a 9-year-old interview posted in social media featuring him as a fighter. Police has also discovered solid evidence about his connection with the United Nations Gang of the lower. They found out that he was with the gang for almost 20 years. Since they are still in the early stage of the investigation, Assistant commissioner Many Mann of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. (CFSEU) said it is still unknown to what the reason and motives of the killing.

The last incident happened at a busy park in Coquitlam last Monday, April 19. About 6:30 afternoon, 20-year-old Bailey McKinney was shot dead during a basketball game in the Town Center Park of Port Coquitlam. Although it is not fully confirmed, police believed that the killing was connected to the gang war that is recently happening. A couple indefinite evidence were discovered upon the investigation. One is that they found a court record showing someone with a similar name and age and was filed with a bunch of criminal charges. The guy was supposedly needed to go to court as he was scheduled on April 20th, which makes sense since it was the day after the killing happened. His mother Lianne McKinney also said something happened when he was 15 years old, during an interview.

“This kind of started at 15, You don’t want to be 15. You want to be a man. You want to have some with power. Guess he found a group of people who made him feel powerful.” – Lianne McKinney

With the investigation run by the CFSEU, they’re insisting that the reason of why gang-related attempted killings is at its peak is because of the concerns and tensions of previews gangs against new groups that could join the plate. The tension was said that it started about a decade ago, more specifically in 2008. Older gang groups such as United Nations, Red Scorpions, and The Wolf Packs are feeling aggravated by new and upcoming gangs because of their gradual incline of power. It is said that the new groups are quickly changing the gang world.

With new players being present, new competitions occurs over drug lines, and other illegal businesses. New and quickly changing alliances are also happening and making new rivalries. This causes backstabbing, quisling, snitching and disagreements. To clean up the mess caused by the movements, they probably needed to put down unwanted people such as the three mentioned a while ago.

The killing was found having a trend each time it gets attempted. First, police said that normal civilians should have little to no worries about the killing since they are just only targeting specific people and not the actual places. However, it is still concerning since innocent people might be present during the killings and could still be accidentally get harm or killed by lost bullets, not to mention the trauma you could get by seeing a person get shot especially if you’re a kid.

One trait that the three killings have in common is, they all happened in public places with a heavy number of civilians around. People say that public executions related to gangs are rare occurrences. It’s an abnormal decision since they usually do the killings as silent or as clean as possible. My theory is that the killings is a message to be delivered to the members of the gangs. Some members probably don’t want to get involve in the war anymore. During Lianne McKinney’s interview, she mentioned that she noticed Bailey was trying to change and started to hangout with his family more often. I could be wrong, but this is a sign of a member who wants to be out of the war. He was probably taken out because he might spill out something in the public. Another possible theory is because the ongoing war is incredibly fast paced, there are no time for clean ups and cover ups.

Another trait is every time there’s a killing happened, burnt cars are found in areas relatively close to the incidents. The authority says the burnt vehicles might be connected to the drive by shooting that is happening in the lower mainland. They said that the burnt vehicles match the descriptions of the cars involved in the shootings.

burntcar

Consequently, the CFSEU are doing its best to protect and prevent anymore killings. They put up a tighter patrol to roam the lower mainland day and night for any suspicious activity. They made a stricter rule to limit any gang illegal activities. They are also willing to cooperate with the public for any witnesses and with other gangsters.

“It’s very, very important that we get cooperation from the public, we get cooperation from the other gangsters and their families. They have information and they need to come forward with that information so that we can advance with our investigation.” – Many Mann

The community is also trying to prevent any gang empower in the whole lower mainland. Last month, The City of Surrey Community Safety launched a website build to support parents and trusted adults to minimize gang involvement to youths. The website called “Empower Surrey”, gives everything that is needed to know about Surrey’s gangs, including tricks and tips for youth prevention. According to Community Safety manager Brian Aasebo, Gangs in B.C. targets children as young as 10 years old from a variety of demographic, geographic, and socio-economic environments. This is not the only activity that Vancouver did for prevention, there are more, and hopefully will decrease the gang movement in the city.
