Shaboozey Breaks Record For Most Weeks Spent on Canadian No. 1 at 20 weeks with A Bar Song (Tipsy)

Have you heard A Bar Song by Shabbozey? Of course you have. It’s been the number 1 on the Canadian Billboard hot 100 for 20 weeks now, a new record. Beating out another country song, Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road Ft. Billy Cyrus, which held the previous record for 19 weeks as the number one song in Canada. A record that stood for over 5 years.

This is the first time in the Canadian Billboards hot 100 history that a song has held the top spot, since it was launched in 2007. It was knocked back to #2 on two separate occasions as Eminem’s Houdini and Morgan Wallen’s I Had Some Help Ft. Post Malone both held the 1 spot. But A Bar Song continues to dominate as it finds its way back to the top and breaks a record on its way.

For comparison, the longest tenured Canadian artist to sit at #1 in the Canadian hot 100 is Justin Bieber with his feature on Luis Fonsi’s and Daddy Yankee’s Despacito, which sat at #1 in Canada for 16 weeks.

Billboard Canada presented Shabbozey with a plaque for his number 1 song in the country during his show on September 13th, at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto Ontario. “Y’all did it first!” Exclaimed Shaboozey, who went on to perform the song 3 more times during his encore, with the crowd loving every second.

The song seems to be resonating a lot in Canada, as it seems you can’t go to a restaurant, event, on social media or of course a bar, without hearing the Virginia natives smash hit. “I guess you guys have a lot of drinkers, huh?” joked Shaboozey when he was asked why he thinks the song is holding up so well north of the border.

First charting on the week of May 11th, 2024, all together now the song has spent a total of 26 weeks on the Canadian hot 100 chart. Shaboozey is also making history on the U.S. Billboard charts, as with its 14th week on top of the charts. It has tied at second with Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk as well as Los Del Rio’s Macarena for the most week at #1 for longest rookie reign. Lil Nas X continues to hold the record for 19 weeks, but anything seems possible at this point.

This song continues to be inescapable, no matter where you go. And it will look to go for 21 weeks at #1 when next week’s chart comes out.

Nation Extreme Wrestling is heading back to the Wise Hall for their November 9th show, NEW Uprising. This next show comes off the back of their recent show on October 4th at the Wise Hall NEW Proving Grounds. Which saw some of the best new names in NEW on the card. And a new champion crowned.

Now onto the card. NEW was quick to make a splash announcing their card. As yesterday it was announced that #1 contender Nick Pesky, who was victorious in the fatal 4-way at the October 4th show, will face off against Sebastian Wolfe for the NEW championship. Pesky has been shooting his way up the ranks in NEW and now he finally gets the title shot NEW fans had been clamoring for. This will be Wolfe’s first defense as champion after becoming the new NEW champion back on May 11th.

Trucking on, the next announcement was a big one as it was announced another belt will be on the line November 9th. As one of the hottest stars in all of NEW, Malik Melo, will put his skills to the test, as he gets set to take on the NEW Innercity Champion Tony Baroni. Baroni continues to face off against rising stars in NEW as at the last show he successfully defended his title against Casey Ferreira. Baroni and Malik is set to be one of the must watch matches on this card.

Elliot Tyler and Eddy Ross will have the chance to take their feud to the ring, as they are set for a rivalry singles matchup. These two kept the beef strong as Tyler would interfere in the Fatal-4 way as he took exception to Ross’ involvement with NEW commentator Kristopher Kassidy who has been Eddy Ross’ second hand man, with that darn briefcase. What is even in that thing? These two with no love lost between them are set to settle their feud in the ring.

After coming oh so close to claiming the NEW womens championship, but losing via submission to Liiza Hall. Cherry Blossom will look to build new momentum in the women’s division as she gets set to take on the pride of Alberta, Zoe Sager.

Shifting our attention to the tag division, Moral Panic will look to be victorious after a loss to Illa Tribe on October 4th, as they take on Duv & Dangerous. Both teams are looking at those NEW tag team titles, as Re:Loaded holds onto the honours of the top tag team in NEW. And a win for either side would set them in the right direction.

It’s set to be an exciting show at the Wise Hall. Tickets for this 19+ event are available on eventbrite.ca. Card is subject to change so stayed tuned to Nation Extreme Wrestling on all social media channels for updates.
