Illuminati Hotties – Live at the Biltmore Cabaret Oct 2

Are you looking for something to do tonight! Do you love live music? Well then I have the perfect thing for you! Live tonight at the Biltmore Cabaret is none other than Illuminati Hotties.

If you have never heard of the Illuminati Hotties, it is the creative project of Sarah Tudzin, a multi-talented musician, producer, and engineer hailing from Los Angeles, California. Tudzin definitely knows how to rock a stage and every song I have heard from her just makes me want to jump around!

If you love dancing and up-beat music, I highly recommend heading over to the Biltmore tonight and checking out what Sarah Tudzin can do on a stage.

Her musical journey began at a young age when she started taking piano lessons at age 7, and then expanding to the drums in middle school. Her passion for music led her to explore studio work during college, and she eventually released her debut project as Illuminati Hotties in 2018, Kiss Yr Frenemies.

She recently released an album back in August, called Power. The whole album is just a great vibe. When you are listening to it you can not help but just want to groove along. Sarah for sure knows how to mix in her vocals with the music to create something great on each and every track.

The Biltmore Cabaret is the perfect place to host tonight, as it is a much more intimate atmosphere. No matter where you are seated inside, you will feel like you are right at the front. The Biltmore Cabaret is a location which is absolutely steeped in tradition and history, and there is no doubt in my mind that Illuminati Hotties will do nothing but add to that history tonight.

As if that wasn’t enough, Sarah will be joined on stage by two special guests. Maddie Ross and Daffo will be the accompanying guests of the evening. Maddie Ross is an independent artist and songwriter out of Los Angeles, CA. According to the Billboard, “Maddie Ross is the best DIY Rock Star you’ve never heard of.”

Daffo is from Pennsylvania and makes music that is delicate and intimate. They lived though a pretty rough childhood and used music as a way to escape. Adding their sounds along with Maddie Ross will be the perfect way to complement Illuminati Hotties.

Tonight promises to be one you do not want to miss. Tickets start at only $25 which seems like more than doable for a night of great music. Doors open at 7pm and the shows starts at 8pm, so make sure you are not late. Bring your dancing shows and be ready to rock the night away with Illuminati Hotties, Maddie Ross and Daffo.

Tonight At the Rogers Centre – Oct 2

It’s the middle of the week. Have you felt bored this week? Is work dragging you down?

I’ve got the perfect middle of the week pick-me up. Tonight, live at the Rogers Centre, is The National. The National is a band formed in 1999, in Cincinnati Ohio. The band consists of 5 members and has an alternative / post-punk rock style.

I can’t say that personally I had heard much of their music before, but I have been listening to them the whole time while writing this article, and must say that I have been nodding my head along to each and every song. If you have never checked them out, I highly recommend giving them a listen on Spotify or Apple Music or however you listen to music. I’m sure you will find the soundtrack to your next “chill vibe”.

Now joining The National tonight, is a band who I think will complement them wonderfully. The War On Drugsis a band formed in 2005, and has a bit more of an upbeat sound, which will sound wonderful live. These guys have won a GRAMMY so I mean you know they are more than “qualified” to be on that stage tonight. They won Best Rock Album at the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Their single Red Eyes has more than 157 million plays on Spotify alone, and is an absolute great song. Give it a listen if you have never heard it.

These two bands alone would be enough to rock all night long, but the fun does not just stop there. One more special guest will be joining The National and The War on Drugs on stage tonight.

Lucius will be the third special guest of the night! The band is made up of Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, on lead vocals, with Dan Molad on drums, and Peter Lalish on guitar. Lucius was officially formed in 2005 and has been rocking stages ever since. They have been described by Rolling Stone as “the best band you may not have heard yet.”

They even have a song with The War on Drugs, so you can be sure that the chemistry will be flowing tonight. I anticipate that tonights concert at The Rogers Centre will be a show that you do not want to miss. Each band will complement each other perfectly and this will be a concert for the ages.

Tickets start at only $85 and that seems like a steal to watch three epic bands rock the stage. Doors open at 6:30, so act fast and secure your ticket because this is just the thing to set your week back on the right track!

The Intersection of Music and Activism in Vancouver’s Indie Scene

Vancouver’s indie music scene is not just a hotbed of creativity; it’s also a vibrant platform for activism. Many artists use their music and influence to raise awareness about social and environmental issues, reflecting a broader trend where art intersects with activism.

One notable example is Phoebe Bridgers, who has utilized her platform to support various causes, including racial justice and mental health awareness. After her critically acclaimed album Punisher, she actively promoted organizations dedicated to these issues, especially during the heightened awareness around the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020

In Vancouver, local artists are also embracing this spirit. Grandson, for instance, has created a movement called XX Resistance, connecting young people with various causes, emphasizing social justice and climate action. His genre-blending style resonates with a younger audience, making activism an integral part of his identity as an artist

Additionally, Evan Greer, a singer-songwriter from the area, is deeply involved in digital rights activism. She leads a nonprofit organization focusing on protecting internet freedoms and ethical technology practices. Greer’s music often addresses themes of LGBTQIA+ rights and societal issues, reflecting a commitment to advocacy through her art.

Moreover, the Vancouver indie scene is enriched by a diverse array of musicians who promote environmental causes, like the band In Hearts Wake, known for their strong environmental messages and community involvement. Their music often addresses climate change, and they actively participate in initiatives aimed at raising awareness about the environment.

This blend of activism and music creates a unique cultural landscape in Vancouver. Artists are not only entertaining their audiences but also inspiring them to engage with pressing social and environmental issues. The connection between music and activism enhances community engagement, fostering a sense of collective responsibility among fans.

As this trend continues, we can expect to see more Vancouver indie artists leveraging their platforms for activism, making the music scene a vital part of the city’s social fabric.

The festival’s setting in Vancouver’s vibrant neighbourhoodsMusic Festival only adds to the appeal, making it a must-attend for anyone who loves indie music.

Squamish Constellation Festival – A Celebration Under the Stars
Over in Squamish, the Constellation Festival has been gaining traction as one of BC’s top indie music festivals. Nestled in the stunning backdrop of the coastal mountains, this festival offers a more laid-back, nature-inspired experience while still packing a powerful punch in terms of musical talent. The focus here is on celebrating not only indie music but also art, food, and the stunning beauty of Squamish.

Squamish Constellation Festival stands out for its commitment to supporting local artists and providing a platform for emerging talent. The festival encourages the audience to engage deeply with the music, the people, and the surroundings, fostering a true sense of belonging. It’s a grassroots festival where the authenticity of the music and the natural beauty of the location create an atmosphere that’s hard to match.

In a city as vibrant as Vancouver, it’s easy to focus on the larger concert halls and arenas, but the true heart of the music scene often beats within its smaller, lesser-known venues.
