5 Canadian YouTube Channels for Your Online Addiction

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been getting more addicted to social media since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. I am always looking for new entertainment to keep me busy these days. Especially with YouTube, considering I tend to have a hard time finding new channels to watch, although when I do, I love watching them. This is consistently a problem in my life because I find many creators boring to watch, and simply just not worth my time. When I do find a channel I like, that’s when the magic really happens. So, if you’re at all in the same boat and on the hunt for new channels to watch, I have put together a list of 5 popular Canadian YouTube accounts, in hopes this list will help you find your new YouTube addiction. In no particular order, here they are!

  1. JusReign

If you have not heard of this guy, I highly recommend giving him a chance. Jasmeet Singh Raina, more commonly known as “JusReign,” is a Canadian comedian and well-known YouTube personality with over 973 thousand subscribers on his channel. He was born in Guelph, Ontario in 1989, and started his YouTube journey in July 2009. To this day, Jasmeet is still creating new, awesome content. A lot of his content focuses on his Desi culture, with a humorous twist. JusReign has collaborated with many other popular YouTubers as well, including Timothy Delaghetto and ||Superwoman||, but his career goes much deeper than just YouTube. Singh is one of Much Digital Studios’ original creators. He also was a co-host on the iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards show in 2016. He has made appearances on Jimmy Kimmel, the National Film Board of Canada, and has starred in two movies. JusReign and fellow comedian Wahlid Mohammed also started a podcast in 2017 called “Just 2 Boyz.” Overall, incredibly talented content creator, and he is bound to get a laugh out of you.

  1. Matthew Santoro

Next up, Matthew Santoro! Sitting at 6.34 million subscribers, this guy is the real deal. Matthew is just entirely a great content creator. He has videos that range on topics from top 10’s to amazing facts to creepy, weird, and mysterious topics, as well as an entirely separate channel with vlogs and unboxing videos AND a podcast. Surprisingly, Matthew hasn’t always just been in the content creation career. He graduated from Brock University in Ontario, with a Master of Accountancy in 2010, then became an accountant. He started making short YouTube skits that same year. By 2012, he got laid off from his accounting job and began to focus on YouTube full time, and I personally think that was the best-case scenario after seeing what he’s accomplished. Today Santoro has over 1.4 billion views on his channel. Matthew creates interesting and intriguing videos, and you should check him out.

  1. LaurDIY

This trendy, outgoing YouTube star is totally one to watch! Lauren Riihimaki is a Canadian YouTuber known for her fashion sense and DIY projects. With almost 9 million subscribers she has surpassed the last two YouTubers on my list, and I can see why. Her videos are captivating and teach you some really neat DIY tricks. Plus, who doesn’t love a girl with great fashion sense? Now, when I first found LaurDIY, it was actually on Snapchat! I didn’t even know she had a YouTube channel until I started consistently watching her video highlights on the Snapchat stream. Lauren has won multiple awards including a Shorty Award in the “House & Home” category and a Streamy Award in the “Lifestyle” category. This beauty guru calls her viewers her “Pretty Little Laurs,” which I think is adorable. If you like fashion, DIY, or just great content in general, look up LaurDIY.

  1. Vanoss Gaming

Now, I’m not really much of a gamer myself, but considering this is one of the top two most subscribed to YouTube channels in Canada, I just had to add it in. With 25.2 million subscribers, this channel blows all the past channels out of the water. Vanoss Gaming started as a simple video game account in September 2011. The real name behind the channel is Evan Fong, a 28-year-old gamer, and music producer from Toronto. His videos consist mainly of a montage-style, playing various video games with other creators. A couple of the games he shares the most about are Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty. I know I said I’m not really a gamer, but I have played and enjoyed both these games, so if you have too, check out Vanoss Gaming on YouTube.

  1. Epic Meal Time

Epic Meal Time is a channel created by two Canadian guys named Harley and Sterling. Now, the channel is run by Harley and a group of his friends. If you love food, you can’t go wrong by watching this account. The content on this channel is all about cooking delicious, high-calorie meals and then eating them. These mouth-watering dishes have got to make you want to try to make some of them at home. Plus, these guys are hilarious. Sitting at 7.05 million subscribers I’d say they have to be making some entertaining videos. Cooking and creating some crazy meals, this channel makes me want to eat until I’m in a food coma. One of the funniest parts of this channel is how it began. They started the channel when they filmed their friend eating a Wendy’s hamburger that contained six beef patties and 18 slices of bacon with the theme song from The Terminator playing in the background. They posted the video on YouTube and it went viral with thousands of views. So, if you’re in the mood for watching delicious food being devoured, Epic Meal Time is your channel.

I hope there was at least one, if not more, channels out of these awesome 5 that piqued your interest. All of these creators are talented and love doing what they do, which is one of the most important things for me when I watch something online. If there is passion behind the content, then it’s bound to be amazing. Happy watching!
