British Columbia has it all from sea to sky Vancouverites are lucky to have the mountains right in our backyard. However one thing Vancouver hasn’t been so lucky with, is our snow on those said mountains.
Now that can either be a good thing or a bad thing, and that all depends on your opinion on the snow, but as a snowboarder and overall mountain enthusiast, I think the lack of snow the past few seasons sucks. Every year I get my gear all ready to go, so excited to get on the slopes and make some turns, however I get a bit bummed when I ride over rocks and fall onto the icy fake man-made snow. However this year, I decided to be positive no matter the outlook on the snow, after all, who can say they have 3 ski resorts to choose from in their city?
So if you’re anything like me and eager to strap in and get some snowy turns in I have the mountain break down for you.
Starting with Grouse mountain at 296 cm of snow so far for their base, they have 3 out of their 4 chair lifts open right now which actually isn’t too bad! Grouse has some great night skiing rates as well as a brand new gondola from the bottom that takes you to the top so no need to worry about transportation if your lacking snow tires.

Seymour on North Vancouver’s east side, has 287 cm of snow this year as well as a pretty cool terrain park open as well. So if you’re interested in jibbing some rails or hitting some jumps and boxes this may be the mountain you want to hit up.
Looking at West Vancouver’s very own Cypress now, they take the cake for the snowfall this season with 409 cm with currently 4 out of their 6 lifts open and 21 of their 61 runs in skiable conditions. If you’re trying to make a quick decision on where to get your North Shore skiing in this season my opinion is head up to Cypress. And if your skiing and boarding isn’t your thing they got a super fun tube park that is fun for any age. I actually went for the first time in years last week and it was a blast!

Overall, all I can say right now is at least we are getting somewhat of a season, this time last year the mountains were bare so I’m here to take when I can get and make a season out of it! Get out there, enjoy the fresh mountain air and have fun!
