B.C. Music – Fontaines D.C

Have you been looking for rock concerts to go to? Well, I may have an artist who can catch your interest. The band is “Fontaines D.C.” they will be touring with “Been Stellar”. “Who are they”, you may ask? Well, I’ll provide some brief backstory: They are an Irish band who formed in Dublin in 2014. The band consists of five members being: Grian Chatten, Conner Curley, Conner Deegan, Tom Coll and Carlos O’Connell. These band mates are very talented and I believe that they set themselves apart from other rock artists due to their creativity. They met each other while attending music college and built a close connection through their love for poetry. After they formed their band they began releasing singles and performing live at events. They also signed to the Partisan record label in 2018. After signing with this label they released their first debut album titled “Dogrel”. At first I was so confused what that meant so I did a quick Google search and decided to break it down for you: Dogreal means, loosely styled and irregular in measure especially for burlesque or comic effect.

The album was named album of the year on the record store “Rough Trade”. Furthermore the album was voted album of the year on “BBC Radio 6 Music” and nominated for the mercury prize. That was a lot to take away from their first album and the pressure was on to make an even better follow up album. The band worked very hard on a series of songs for their next body of work and then finally released “A Hero’s Death” this album was also successful for the band and peaked their career even more. Their second album was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Being nominated for a Grammy for any artist is insane and definitely provides a sense of stability to their career. Even though they didn’t win they still got acknowledged and that was enough for them.
