TF Fest is coming to Burnaby next weekend

TJ Fest, which is also known as Burnaby’s Tian Jin Festival will be taking place May 6th – May 7th this year. It is located at the Tian-Jin Temple at 3426 Smith Avenue, Burnaby. The venue will be open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on both days, admissions are completely free and there’s also free parking.

What a great way to spend the weekend with family and friends at this multicultural event.

Tian Jin Festival promotes Taiwanese food and culture with the mission of increasing community engagement and inclusivity. It is the 11th year that this event has taken place and it is highly-anticipated by the community. They said that they have expanded the venue, increasing the parking lot and adding many more free activities for children and families to explore.

There will be a huge selection of food trucks that include many of the popular Taiwanese street foods. I will just briefly list a few, there are salt and pepper popcorn chicken, traditional Taiwanese bento boxes, bubble tea, desserts and pastries. The money that the vendors pay TJ Fest will all be donated to the Canadian Liver Foundation.

Besides the large selection of food, there are also many exciting multicultural stage performances. For those that plan on going, you will learn about the diverse cultures, listen to music, watch dance performances and martial arts performances. There are also artisan booths with handmade crafts and cultural products that you can buy and support local businesses.

I have been to Taiwan in the past and I love going to their night markets. There are just so many different things to eat and I will literally start from one end of the street and eat my way down. All the deep-fried goodness, the savoury snacks, fresh fruit drinks and the sweet desserts, trust me, there’s going to be something for someone. Even if you have never had Taiwanese food before, I think you should try it. You might fall in love with Chinese cuisine.

This is a picture of TF Fest last year. As you can see there are lots of food booths and people walking around the street. You can really feel the bustle and excitement.
