From a junior fencing champion to debuting as a member of the K-pop boy group GOT7 and later on releasing solo music internationally, Jackson Wang is a well-known celebrity in the entertainment industry under the age of 30.

Jackson Wang was born and raised in Hong Kong, China, and he has set foot in many different areas in the entertainment industry. He is a rapper, singer, dancer, variety show host, fashion designer, record producer and music video director. He is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, Shanghainese, English and Korean. He is an insanely talented individual and has gained over 31.8 million followers on Instagram and 30.8 million followers on Weibo.

One of the most iconic song that I know from Jackson Wang is “Papillon” which was his first single released in 2017 from his label “Team Wang”. He created this label after leaving the K-pop company.

This is the official music video to “Papillon”:

I have friends that are fans of Jackson Wang and they are pretty excited for his Vancouver tour happening on Sunday. I feel like his rap songs are not really my style, but I like some of his slower song and when he adds a twist to some mandarin pop songs. I appreciate his talent and I think that he has been quite successful in his career.

Check out this new music video “Slow” that Jackson Wang released today with Ciara Wilson:

I think that Jackson Wang is unique because he doesn’t just represent one type of popular culture. He first debuted in the Korean music industry as a boy’s group, which makes him a K-pop idol, but then he left the company to start his own solo career with a bunch of English songs. He has also done many covers of Chinese songs on Chinese music shows. One of my favourite ones that he covered is Jay Chou’s “Silence” (An Jing). He added a twist to this song and made it into his own style, which I though was very interesting.

This was his live performance of on Season 3 of “Sound of My Dream” which is a Chinese music program aired on Zhejiang Television:
