Are you ready for the 2022 BC Summer Games ?

Prince George would be hosting the 2022 BC Summer Games with the opening ceremony on Thursday, July 21.The city would open the door for almost 3800 participants with 18 sports item. The place will be filled with energetics youth aged 10 – 18 for three days.

“The Games provide an opportunity to showcase our community, our venues and our people,” says Prince George Host Society President Renee McCloskey. “We are honoured to welcome BC’s best young athletes to Prince George, and we are working hard to give them an exceptional experience they will never forget.”

Prince George has been hosting many other sports game throughout the years such as BC Winter Games in 1981, the Canada Winter Games in 2015 and the World Paranordic Games in 2019.  The essence of the game is to support the development of athletes, coaches, and officials as they move on to higher levels of competition in their later stage of life. It could be very helpful in paving the way for their upcoming competitive games in the future.

Volunteer engagement and mentorship are also the highlights of hosting large-scale sports games.  Volunteering for sure can build the sense of community which might be absent for the past three years due to COVID. The 2022 BC Summer Game can really be the time that bring everyone in the community back together.

Mentorship could be the thing for you if you are good at sports and in the meanwhile hope to inspire some young boys and girls. Mentorship is not necessarily to be something big and grand. It could be just motivating people to step out of the comfort zone or encouraging them to try again after that fail. It is especially true for this game as the participants are all the shiny and upcoming generation in Canada. Not all make it to the international arena but every single athlete must have their own story of growing and learning. Mentorship could help them write a page of two!

Still planning what to do in the summer and this could be on your list!
