Dry January: Day 24

If you have been following along with my dry January journey then you will know yesterday was a particularly hard day for me. If you haven’t read that one I’ll link it below. 

Dry January: Day 23

 

So yea, yesterday kinda just sucked. School was super busy, I was feeling stressed and really just wanted to hang out with my friends and have a couple drinks to end the day. But I didn’t and now I’m one more day further into this journey. I’m dreading when the clock rolls around to 5 because if it wasn’t January that’s when the Friday celebrations generally start but today is the second last Friday of this challenge and I’m too far in to give up now. 

So this is how I’m going to spend my Friday night to distract myself and not make it a bad night. 

Feeling productive and motivated is what keeps me feeling good so I’m going to go right to the gym at 5 and kick off the weekend on the right foot. After the gym I’m going to walk my dog. My dog has been a godsend during this month and if I wasn’t already before, I’m definitely his favourite now from all the walks we’ve been going on.

After I get my endorphins going and feeling good I’m going to have a boiling hot shower, get into some comfy clothes and order in takeout. I’m going to start a new TV series or watch one of my favourite movies and just take it easy.

I think this night is feeling extra hard cause all of my friends have plans to go out tonight. I was thinking of going sober and being the DD but going out to a bar downtown I know would just make me annoyed and irritated with everyone around me drinking. 

For me having a step by step plan on the hard days makes a huge difference. Knowing my next move and not letting myself get bored has been a game changer on the weekend nights. 

But this is the second last Friday of the month and tomorrow will be the last Saturday so just 3 more hard nights to get over and other than that it should be smooth sailing (I hope).
