Oil And Water Don’t Mix

The Oilers are coming to town tomorrow and I can’t wait.

But why do you ask? Aren’t you worried considering the current state of the Canucks? They beat us in the playoffs last year, they are our rivals, don’t you want to beat them?

Nope. Because I’m one of the crazy annoying Edmonton fans who lives in Vancouver. I bleed orange and blue. I will put my life on the line for McDavid and Draisaitl. So the answer is no, I’m not worried, I’m excited. And no, I’m not going into this game with complete certainty that we will sweep you guys, but for how things are going right now, the odds are looking pretty good.

Playoffs 2022.

“But she’s just a bandwagon” “text me when you buy your Canucks jersey” “once we beat you you will come back”. These are some of the many statements I’ve received as an Oilers fan living in Vancouver, but I have receipts. I’ve been a loyal Oilers fan for all 21 years of my life. Ever since my dad put me down in front of the TV it’s been all oil love. My dad got his Edmonton love from spending a lot of his 20-30s around Edmonton so don’t worry that doesn’t come from nowhere either. My family is also from a small town practically bordering Alberta, we’re closer to Edmonton than Downtown Vancouver. So no, I’m not a “bandwagon” also technically speaking there isn’t really anything to bandwagon, I mean the last time we won the cup was 1990! I wasn’t even alive!

Both teams played a game last night. The Canucks lost to LA 5-1….. The Oilers won 4-3. A close game for the Oilers but it seems to be from an outsider’s perspective the Canucks have been pretty far off.

I actually went to Rogers to see these teams battle 2 years ago (before all of Vancouver jumped on the Canuck bandwagon… but that’s another story) and there was more orange in the stands than blue. I won’t be in tomorrow’s attendance cause of the ridiculous ticket prices which by the way I feel awful you fans pay upwards of $200 for such poor performances…. But I’m curious to see what the fans will be like tomorrow? I think there’s a slight chance we could see more orange jerseys.

The puck will be dropping at 7:00 in Rogers Arena tomorrow and I’ll be cheering my boys on from home. So to my fellow Oiler fans out there in the city of Canucks, go Oilers go, keep your chin up, and stay proud. And remember, oil and water don’t mix.
