For two nights On Friday November 15th and Saturday November 16th at 8:00 pm, you can head down to the Orpheum for Gene Kelly: A Life in Music. This is a great experience to see the classical music of Gene Kelly performed by the live symphony! You will be able to hear music from classic Gene Kelly films such as “Singin’ in the Rain” , “It’s Always Fair Weather” and “An American in Paris”. Patricia Ward Kelly, Gene Kelly’s wife will be hosting the event sharing her late husband’s stories and music through the live symphony. If you are just getting into live symphony this would make for the perfect first show to go to, you will probably recognize a lot of the classics!
If you are wanting to dive into even more classical music the Vancouver Symphony chamber players will be bringing a night of classics from Brahms, Mendelssohn, and Webern to the Pyatt Hall Tuesday November 19th at 7:30 pm and Sunday November 24th at 2:00pm. Experience the sounds of the VSO chamber players with the Violin, Viola, Cello, Horn, and Piano in this hour and a half performance. Because this is a smaller venue they recommend you get your tickets in advance!
The last November show that the Vancouver Symphony has to offer for the month of November is Tchaikovsky & Bruckner 6 on the 22nd and 23rd at 8:00 pm at the Orpheum. This will be an elegant night of music with one intermission making it a social and entertaining night.
