The diverse musical fan culture of Vancouver

Is it me or has Vancouver really become the place in Canada for live music concerts? I’m mainly asking you this because of the insane amount of concerts that are taking place this month alone which is around 55 total!

However. looking into it a bit more it’s pretty understandable why. This is mainly because of how diverse the musical fan culture is in Vancouver from the different major genres to the sounds and movements within them. In other words there is something for everyone to enjoy. Let’s take a look at some of these concerts and the people who enjoys the music from its genre to its era.

First, we have Ushers concert tonight at Rogers Arena for his past present and future tour. Usher mainly appeals to the listeners who enjoy the more traditional romantic R&B from the 90’s to mid 2000’s. Now I know he doesn’t only make these kinds of songs, but the people who rock with him the most are fans of that classic era of more romantic, smooth and playboy style of R&B Music. Not gonna lie I like some R&B songs from that variety including Ushers.

Next, We have Wale who will be coming to Vancouver on November 19th at the Commodore Ballroom for his every blue moon tour. Just like Usher, his music is for everyone as he makes different types of music. However, Wale’s music is listened to more by the fans of Hip Hop’s late 2000’s to the mid 2010’s era of experimentation and creation of new sounds where each one of them thrived including Wale’s more electrifying soulful backpack sound. As a huge fan of that era of hip hop, Wale was an essential listen for that time period in music and best believe if one of his songs are on you’ll be listening to some great music.

Lastly, we have Arkells who will be performing in Vancouver at Rogers Arena on November 15th. The fans of music who enjoy Arkells are mainly the fans of more Alternative Rock. Unlike the other two, for the most part Arkells sticks to that lane where they are essential listens for the fans of more alternative and experimental type of music specifically in the Rock N Roll category. However, believe me when I tell you once you hear a song by them, You will be hooked and want to hear more alternative tunes.

With these concerts and others happening this month and nearly sold out, This really highlights The city’s diversity, both in music tastes and cultural influences and creates an atmosphere that attracts artists from genres and eras. Overall this builds a powerful sense of community and enthusiasm that makes every show feel awesome no matter the genre or movements within it.
