Just four days after their first away loss of the year, the Vancouver Whitecaps have a new shot to prove themselves. Facing the Colorado Rapids this Wednesday, the team is looking for redemption in the second of three consecutive away games in MLS. This stretch comes after an away win against the Canadian Premier League’s Cavalry in the quarterfinals of the Canadian championship, followed by a 3-0 loss to Los Angeles FC.
Team captain Ryan Gauld didn’t hide his disappointment after the game: “Things were going well, but we still have a lot to improve if we want to be on top at the end of the year.”

After a rest day and a team dinner, the Whitecaps practiced at the LAFC Performance Center before flying to Denver.
In the matchup against the Rapids, who are tied with the Whitecaps in the Western Conference standings at 18 points each, Vancouver has a game in hand. The Rapids, playing at home, have had mixed recent results and lost their last game to the San Jose Earthquakes 3-2.
Playing in Denver brings unique challenges due to the altitude, where every set play and long ball can turn into a scoring opportunity.
The Whitecaps return to Vancouver after Wednesday’s game and wrap up their away series with the second matchup of the year against the Seattle Sounders on Saturday. After a 2-0 victory in front of over 30,000 fans at Lumen Field last month, the Whitecaps lead the Cascadia Cup standings with a record of 2-0-0.
Moments of Pride and Unity 🌈 In a special note, today the Whitecaps unveiled the 2024 “Love Unites” jersey for pre-game matches, celebrating the 11th anniversary of the Pride Game set for July 20.
