This year, from June 21 to 30. They’ve got a special highlight: Grammy-winning rapper Killer Mike is going to be the star of the show! Besides him, there will be a mix of free and ticketed concerts.
The “Downtown Jazz” series is set to be a standout, with free outdoor performances right in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery at šxwƛənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square on June 22 and 23, from noon until 7:30 PM.
But that’s not all. Granville Island will be the heart of the festival, featuring a blend of free and paid performances at venues like Performance Works, Ocean Artworks, and the Revue Stage.
Free Shows You Can’t Miss:
Over at 750 Hornby Street (12 PM to 7:30 PM, on June 22 and 23), you can enjoy artists like Kassa Overall, Jason Winikoff Hot 5, and Juana Molina. Then, from June 26 to 29 on Granville Island, starting at 1:30 PM, don’t miss the Kjetil Mulelid Trio and the Vancouver Youth Jazz Orchestra.
For those jazz lovers who enjoy a late-night vibe, the “Late Night Innovation” series at the Revue Stage is something to look forward to, kicking off at 11:30 PM from June 28 to June 30.
Oh, and there’s more… The North Shore Jazz series will also feature both free and ticketed shows from June 21 to June 30. Check out free performances like the Mary Ancheta Quartet at the West Vancouver Memorial Library and the Terminal City Brass Band at Lynn Valley Village.
So, my friends, if you’re looking for an incredible and free musical experience this summer, mark your calendars and head out to these shows. Personally, I’m super excited to see the performances on Granville Island—it’s one of my favorite spots in the city and always has an amazing vibe, especially during this festival. It’s the kind of event you want to take your time with, enjoying every moment with your friends, and that’s exactly what I’ll be doing.
