Let’s Chill with the Music by Matt Storm

Meet Matt Storm, the Vancouver-based singer-songwriter. He has been writing and producing music that combines alternative music with vintage soul and jazz. He is hoping to share his music to the world because he believes that music is the way to connect with people.

Being a child of medical professionals, Matt Storm’s parents brought him to many parts of the world. He spent most of his youth moving around, from Washington state where he was born, to Saudi Arabia, to Pakistan, then to Kenya, before returning to Canada and settling in Vernon, B.C. Storm’s obsession with music started when he was young. At the age of nine, he stumbled upon the song “Two Princes” by Spin Doctors, and he was hooked. A few years later, he picked up the guitar and that’s when he realized that he wanted to be a musician.

After high school, Matt Storm moved to Vancouver and went to an audio engineering school. His education helped him become a music producer. However, his biggest passion was always to perform and write songs. Lucky for him, he was asked by Desirée Dawson to play in her band as a drummer. Desirée then encouraged Storm to play his original songs during a live set. That’s when it all started. Seeing people’s positive feedback towards his songs made him realize his potential as a singer-songwriter. That led to Matt Storm’s first official EP called “Major 7th Medicine” that was released in 2018.  A few years after that, the singer released a song called “We Went Our Own Ways”, and that song became highly popular on the YouTube channel “Sailing La Vagabonde”. The same song also landed multiple Spotify Editorials, and it currently has been streamed over two million times. On top of that, Matt Storm also performed in many festivals, and he has just finished an international tour where he played in different countries including the UK and Slovakia.

Matt Storm’s music is easy-listening. It is something that you would want to listen to when you are chilling after a long day. The combination between his soft voice, jazzy chords, and the influence of soul and folk music, created a beautiful harmony that will pamper your ears. You can definitely hear it on his newly released single, “Idle Hands”. He added layers of trippy synth on top of his guitar to add cool effects on this song. Aside from his new single, Matt Storm also recently performed at Portside Live. It’s an intimate concert where he played some of his original songs.
