Get Ready to Rock and Roll at Rogers Arena

Rogers Arena is famous for hosting our hockey games, but it is also a great venue for large events and concerts. The last time that I was at Rogers Arena (https://rogersarena.com/) was for this free Christian concert event that my friend invited me to. It was so big, and I don’t even remember how many times I said “wow”. When I studied at UBC, I would go to events that were hosted inside the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Stadium. I was already so amazed at how big that place was, so for me to step inside Rogers Arena, a place that has a capacity of 19,700, I was speechless for the most part.

Alright, let’s have a drum roll…

A big event is coming up at Rogers Arena next month. Depeche Mode and Young Fathers will be performing on Friday, November 24th. This will be a combination of Indie & Alt, Rock, Electronic and Hip-Hop. If you are adventurous and want to have an evening experiencing different genres, then this event will be great for you.

If you are into electronic music and follow bands in this area of music, then you know that this band dates all the way back to the 80s. Depeche Mode formed in Basildon, Essex, England in 1980, and they were first known as Composition of Sound. They have never taken a hiatus and have been active since 1980. So, if my math is correct, this year would be their 43rd year in the music industry.

The band currently has two active members, Dave Gahan and Martin Gore, they were both in the band since day one. Dave Gahan is the lead vocalist and Martin Gore plays the keyboards, guitars and is also the backing vocals. The most recent studio album released by Depeche Mode is their fifteenth one called Memento Mori (2023).

You can’t change the world

But you can change the facts

And when you change the facts

You change points of view

If you change points of view

You may change a vote

And when you change a vote

You may change the world
