“In the years since The Aces released their acclaimed sophomore album, ‘Under My Influence’ in 2020, the band has been on a journey of self-discovery. Faced with the realities of a global pandemic, sisters Cristal and Alisa Ramirez (lead vocals/guitar and drums, respectively), Katie Henderson (lead guitar/vocals), and McKenna Petty (bass) used quarantine as a time to reflect, confronting personal mental health issues as well as processing experiences they’d had growing up together in Provo, Utah, as part of the Mormon church. When The Aces returned to the studio, their vision — and the honesty and trust between them — felt stronger than ever.” (Rickshaw Theatre)

Let’s listen to “Daydream” by The Aces and feel the beat that they want to share.

The Aces, formerly known as The Blue Aces, is an alternative, indie pop band from Utah, United States of America. There are four members in the band. Katie Henderson, the guitarist, McKenna Petty, the bassist, Alisa Ramirez, the drummer, and Cristal Ramirez, the lead vocalist and guitarist. They released their first single “Stuck” in 2016 and it reached thirty-eighth on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart at the end of 2017. They signed to Red Bull Records and on April 6th, 2018, the band released their debut album, When My Heart Felt Volcanic.

The Aces have said that their musical and career influences from The Beatles; Michael Jackson; Earth, Wind & Fire; Paramore; New Order; Depeche Mode; and Weezer. They have released three albums, three Eps, and twenty singles. The band’s musical style is alternative pop and indie pop. It is worth noting that this is an all-female band, and they want to inspire girls.

“We are just a band! I don’t see why people have to see gender all the time and make it a thing. But at the same time, it is unique and it is a strength of ours that we are all women. We wanna inspire other girls and we get that all the time–fans coming up to us and being like ‘oh my gosh you guys are so inspiring I wanna be in the music industry’ or ‘I wanna start a band.'” (Cristal Ramirez)

Join The Aces and Carol Ades at Rickshaw Theatre this Wednesday for a spectacular concert.
