Burnaby Bloom is one of Burnaby’s favourite springtime festivals. This year they will be holding events on May 13th, May 14th and May 27th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The first two days will be at Deer Lake Park where there are various live music performances and activities throughout the day. There will be features of eco-art installations, plant sales, gardening workshops, food trucks and walking tours. On May 27th, there will be a micro-event at Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area. I see that there are music and culture performances like traditional Korean arts, rhythm drumming, ventriloquist, Erhu (Chinese fiddle), Guzheng (Chinese zither), student dance, Portuguese folk tales, clown circus, saxophone, square dance, Chinese classical ribbon dance and Metis dance.

There are also many different talks and tours that you can join. Look at environmental art and footprints or explore and learn about the neighbourhood wildlife animals.

On top of that there are also pre-registered workshops that you can sign up for which includes activities like botanical printmaking, make paper flowers, Japanese art floral design, painting with erasers, making paper globe lanterns, beeswax candle making, create a bee friendly flower planter and making preserved flowers.

I think this is a nice event if you really like to embrace nature and just observe the beautiful flowers. You can take a camera with you can take some beautiful photos of different plants. I’m sure they will be super colourful and pleasing to the eye.
