Fred VanVleet Charged 30K For Statement About Officials!

Toronto Raptors point guard Fred VanVleet will be fined thirty thousand dollars after the teams loss to the L.A Clippers Wednesday night.

VanVleet scored 13 points in Toronto’s 108-100 loss, which is the Raptors second loss in a row after their defeat to the Denver Nuggets Monday night. The Raptors were called for 23 fouls compared to just 18 on the Clippers, and VanVleet received his eighth technical foul of the year.

VanVleet was livid after the loss as he believes this loss and the loss on Monday night were due to bad officiating calls:

“I thought Ben Taylor was f*cking terrible tonight. I think that on most nights, you know out of the three, there’s one or two that just f*ck the game up. It’s been like that a couple of games in a row. Denver was tough, obviously. You come out tonight, competing pretty hard, and I get a bullsh*t tech that changes the whole dynamic of the game, changed the whole flow of the game.”

VanVleet isn’t wrong. In the Raptors game against the Nuggets Monday night Scotty Barnes sudden ejection changed the course of a one point game! With the Raptors team captain getting a technical foul in another close game, this time against the Clippers, it’s no wonder why VanVleet was so mad.

National Basketball League (NBA) officials didn’t seem to care if VanVleet’s statements were true or not though. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the league has fined VanVleet $30,000 for his comments after Wednesday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

This seems to be a common theme in the NBA this year. The referees have been making terrible calls all season and when players speak out they get in trouble. It’s a sad state of affairs and let’s hope something changes in the league soon!
