The Downfall Of Daniel Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo is a Australian Formula one driver with multiple wins in the sport including a inaugural  win at the Canadian Grand Prix. He was largely considered the best driver on the F1  grid for many years and many experts of the sport said Daniel Ricciardo would be a world champion one day given the right car and team.

However these past two years have been nothing but tragedy for Daniel Ricciardo, as he has underperformed his new Mclaren car and got beaten by his teammate in the same car almost every single race. Next year Daniel Ricciardo will be forced to leave the sport due to his poor performance at Mclaren. So what happened to the former #1 driver on the grid?

The Mclaren car just isn’t suited for his driving style. Daniel Ricciardo was well known as “the king of the late breakers” because of his last millisecond touches on the breaks that would allow him to pass others with ease. But while the Mclaren car may be fast, its fast in a straight line allowing it to pass other cars before the breaking zone but must brake much earlier. Daniel Ricciardo has credited that reason many times on why his pace seems to be different.

The passion just isn’t there anymore though. Even in a competitive car that suits his driving style many doubt if Daniel Ricciardo would be able to once again fight for wins. As Ricciardo made his come up in the sport he would often speak of his hopes and ambitions to be world champion. But that passion has clearly faded as Ricciardo now says he would be content if he never became world champion.

Daniel always will be a fan favourite in the sport so it truly is sad to see his fall from grace and many will miss him on the grid next year.
