What’s Going on in Seattle??

What’s going on in Seattle??? The question that is ringing in fans’ ears has their Seattle Seahawks, who had SuperBowl aspirations to start the season fall to 2-5 through 7 the first 7 weeks of the NFL season. Well to answer that question simply the team has run out of luck. In the 2019 and 2020 seasons the Seahawks went 23-9 and out of those 23 wins the Seahawks won 16 of them by only 1 score. All of these wins were led by franchise quarterback Russell Wilson who has 27 game-winning drives since entering the league in 2012 and has never missed a game in that same time frame.

Through the first 4 weeks of the season, the Seahawks were  2-2 which was less than an ideal start. However, the fault of these 2 first losses mainly falls on the defence who couldn’t stop opposing offences if their lives depended on it. Then came week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams where Russell Wilson hits his hand against 6 time all-pro defensive tackles, Aaron Donald, causing the star quarterback to have 2 injuries to his middle finger on his throwing hand. An extensor tendon rupture is commonly known as mallet finger and a comminuted fracture-dislocation of the proximal interphalangeal joint. Russell received surgery on his had the following day and was allocated to the team’s injured reserve list.

The Seahawks went on to lose that game bringing the team’s record to 2-3 and in the weeks to follow would slip down to 2-5. Losing both games by one score. So how does Russell Wilson’s injury relate to luck?? Well, here it is… Russell Wilson has held the Seahawks up, he’s worked magic with a terrible offensive line, a weak running back room and a defence that hasn’t been able to leave the field since what feels like 2016. So with the man behind those 27 comeback wins and those 16 games won by at least one score or less out. The Seahawks have been forced to show their true colours of a below-average football team.
