Kelowna Rockets in town to play the Giants

On Saturday night, October 23rd, the Vancouver Giants (2-2) will take on the Kelowna Rockets (2-1) in their fifth game of the season puck drop is 7 pm at the Langley Events Centre tickets start at just $23.00. The Giants look to get back in the win column after consecutive losses to the Kamloops Blazers. Big off-ice uniform news is the team confirmed on their Twitter page that they will be debuting those very nice black 3rd jerseys tonight. This is one of my all-time favourite jerseys, not just WHL but hockey overall. They are so nice. I’m going to try to get myself one.

The Kelowna Rockets come to town having won two straight games, most recently against the Blazers, who beat the Giants twice in the last week. The Rockets project to have their number one goalie Colby Knight in net for Saturday’s game. Knight had 29 saves in the Rockets 4-2 win over the Blazers. The majority of the Rockets’ offence comes from their top line of Minnesota Wild prospect Pavel Novak 2 goals-4 assists-6 points, Chicago Blackhawks’ Kirby Dach’s brother Colton also of the Blackhawks 3-1-4, and 2022 NHL draft-eligible Max Grahame 2-1-3. The Giants’ defence has their work cut out for them.

The G-Men will have starting netminder Jesper Vikman Vegas Golden Knights 2020 5th round pick in net after he had the night off in Kamloops on Friday. Vikman, the Giants 1st pick in the CHL import draft 8th overall, hasn’t had the smoothest of a start in North America with 3.00 goals-against average and .883 save percentage, which isn’t far off what he produced in 5 games in Sweden’s 2nd tier men’s league last season. The G-Men will need their best offensive players Justin Sourdif (2-5-7), Adam Hall (4-1-5), Ty Thorpe (2-3-5), and Fabian Lysell (1-3-4), to outscore the opposition.

If you aren’t able to watch the game in person, you can catch the game on CHL TV (https://watch.chl.ca/).
