Vinyl Record Sales Are On The Rise

They say everything comes back in style, and that includes outdated vinyl records. There has been a resurgence in the trend of buying, reselling and collecting vinyl albums. Since 2007, the sales of vinyls have continued to grow. According to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) vinyl record sales have increased by almost 30% in 2020.

The local record shop, Redrum Records, inspired by the Stephen King novel “The Shining”, has taken notice to this growing movement and decided to expand to more locations.

Although the shop sells CDs, tapes, posters, clothing and DVDs, it gets its main attention from their collection of new and used vinyls.

“In the short amount of time that I’ve been working at Redrum Records, we have already been looking to expand to more locations in Maple Ridge (and) in Burnaby.”

The business began with a location in Cloverdale but quickly opened up more in South Surrey, Aldergrove and New Westminster and doesn’t plan on stopping.

They aren’t alone either, lots of these old school record shops are opening up their doors all over Vancouver and the lower mainland.
