Mark was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was put up for adoption at ten days old. His birth mother requested that he be adopted by a Canadian family. Being black, Mark was adopted by two white parents. Growing up in a pre-dominantly white and wealthy neighborhood, Mark had to deal with a lot.
