Following the Government of Canada’s release of the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships on July 12, 2021, the Alliance program literature has been updated to reflect the new requirements for all Alliance grant applications involving one or more partner organizations from the private sector. Key changes are summarized below, but we strongly encourage you to review the updated literature before submitting an application.
Please also note that for any Alliance application currently in the online system and not yet submitted to NSERC by the university, the applicant must invite (or re-invite, if previously done) the contact person at each of their partner organizations in order for them to complete the partner organization form (if not previously done), and to submit the information about the organization while agreeing to the new terms and conditions of applying for partner organizations. The main Alliance grants webpage provides background on the implementation of the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships.
· The How to apply webpage describes what documents you need to complete in order to submit your Alliance grant application, in the case where your proposal involves one or more partner organizations from the private sector.
· The Instructions for completing an application provide information on how to include the completed National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships’ risk assessment form in your application, in the case where your proposal involves one or more partner organizations from the private sector.
· The Alliance grants application checklist includes the requirements that must be fulfilled with respect to the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships, when applicable, in order for your application to be complete for NSERC to accept it.
· The Review of your application webpage includes information on how a risk assessment will complement the merit assessment of your application, in the case where your proposal involves one or more partner organizations from the private sector. The expected assessment time of your application has also been updated.
