The role of the Institute Research Funds (IRF) is to allow BCIT employees to pursue research initiatives outside of the regular external granting agencies model by accessing BCIT research funds.
The IRC met Thursday, March 4, 2021 to review Institute Research Funds and decided to expand the Institute Research Funds (IRF) to Phase 2. Phase 2 IRF grants are intended to help foster the development of world class researchers capable of making a credible application for Canada Research Chair or other external funding. The maximum duration of an IRF Phase 2 grant is 3 years with a total funding of $100K (maximum $35K per year).
Applications for these funds need to be forwarded to School Research Committees no later than Friday, May 7, 2021. There is sufficient funding for one IRF Phase 2 appointment in the fiscal year 2021/22.
