The BC Association for Individualized Technology and Supports for People with Disabilities (BCITS) is looking for students to enter their biomedical, assistive and home automated devices into the prestigious Simon Cox Student Design Competition.
Students will have the opportunity of working together with people living with disabilities. As a team, they will discuss concepts, develop a project together, and testing the iterations, as it gradually moves from idea to production. The entries will be judged on both the merit of the design and functionality in assisting people with severe physical disabilities to live as independently as possible at home. This is an opportunity for students to come together with the disability community while at the same time showcasing and gaining recognition for their work, and of course if placed, winning prize money!
The contest will run from September 2019 to May 2020, culminating in a showcasing of the winning entries to be judged on May 3rd, 2020 at the Work Centre for Dialogue in downtown Vancouver.
Detailed information about the competition on the BCITS website in the near future. Meanwhile, please feel free to contact BCITS any time at info@BCITS.org for more information.
