We are pleased to announce the Institute Research Committee (IRC) recently approved the following 3 proposals, as recommended by their School Research Committees. The IRC received 5 applications for this round of funding, and while all were worthy of consideration, it was the Committee’s decision to approve 3 proposals.
- Dr. Mirela Gutica (SoCAS) – $25,000 (for 2016/2017), $25,000 (for 2017/2018), and an additional $25,000 (for 2018/2019) for project entitled “Building Advanced Learning Technologies for Improving Girls’ and Women’s Participation in STEM.”
- Ms. Maureen Connelly (SoCE) – $25,000 (for 2016/2017), $25,000 (for 2017/2018), and an additional $25,000 (for 2018/2019) for project entitled “Noise Mitigation of Steel Gouging Stations, Product Design and Solutions.”
- Dr. Edmond Zahedi and Mr. Jochen Boehm (SoHS) – $24,455 (for 2016/2017) for project entitled “Determination of Posture and Fasting Effects on the Reproducibility of Readings from a New Instrument Estimating Vascular-Age.”
In reviewing the applications, IRC members clearly recognized the quality of the proposals and the importance of the research that applicants were considering engaging in. We appreciate the work and effort everyone put into the application process, and wish everyone success in conducting their research.
