BCIT students are among the best and brightest BC has to offer. From trades to engineering to computer studies, our students have it all covered and are designed to innovate. We know the next Gabriel Castanon (2014 Winner) or Grace Soo (2011 Winner) is somewhere on our campus on the cusp of creating the next big thing.
BCIT’s Student Innovation Challenge is an annual innovation contest aimed at providing funding, support, and encouragement to BCIT students who have“big ideas”.
New for 2014, the Challenge presents 3 Categories to which entries may be submitted.
Category 1 – Business Ventures
The winner of this competition category will be the idea deemed most likely to succeed as a business venture in the current market and recognizes innovative ideas, entrepreneurship, and commercial products.
Category 2 – BCIT Community
Projects that build community or enhance the student experience.
BCIT is a rich and diverse blend of student life, real-world learning, and innovation. Proposals for this category should describe a new policy, program, course, initiative, or service or product that improves the BCIT student experience in a meaningful way.
The winner in this category will win $500 CASH and be eligible to receive up to an additional $4500 to implement the idea via the BCIT Student Innovation Fund.
Category 3 – Student Applied Research Project
BCIT students deliver great projects every year from their classes, capstone, Industry Sponsored Student Projects and directed studies projects. If you think you have an innovative project on the go that solves a real world problem, submit it for your chance to win the applied research category. We are looking for BCIT’s top students delivering innovative industry solutions.
