Here are a few questions that students and faculty have been asking…
Is there a particular instructor within my program I should get into contact with?
Good question. While we have had discussions with many instructors within the programs involved in the 2 Day challenge, the individuals with the most knowledge and information are the program heads. So best option is to contact your program head or the instructor who allowed us to make the presentation to your class.
Will teams be allowed to work after the set field times (on things such as data processing and proposal writing)?
Of course! The field time just allows us to facilitate access, manage gear and equipment and offer support while you are on site. It will be up to individual teams as to how you manage your team and schedule work sessions and end product development and delivery.
How much will the cash prize be?
First prize will be equivalent to two days salary for a junior consultant. Prize amounts per team member: 1st prize – $400 and registration in the EcoCity World Summit in Vancouver, September 2019.
Is there any previous knowledge of LiDAR required? or recommended?
No. Well, unless you are a student from the Geomatics department! If you are interested in the challenge, you may want to look up LiDAR and see how it is being used in resource management industry and the different ways the data can be used and analyzed for assessment and site evaluation.
