February 2023 Update
As we start the 2023 year we have been visited by the ghosts of the
past, present and future.
It has been three years since our forward momentum was abruptly
curtailed by the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. Literally and
figuratively, life as we knew it was interrupted and shattered by
something over which we had little or no control.
I, and most of you, felt mostly stunned by this event and our senses
have been slow to return. Fortunately most of us have picked
ourselves up and begun moving again.
This last year, 2022, we have attempted to begin the arduous journey
to a new reality. We resumed some BCITRA events. We held an
AGM with a blend of virtual and in person attendance, celebrated
summer with an outdoor picnic and ushered the holiday season in
with a Christmas brunch. Attendance lagged behind expectations but
also revealed the beating heart of the organization still exists.
Presently we our rethinking our root values and how we can develop
our future potential as an organization. We need to rediscover what
is important to us all. The holiday response to giving appeals have
shown we are still in the game.
For the future we will survey the members to ensure the board is
closely aligned with them to so we can survive and thrive. Our thanks
to everyone for caring and sharing. We still need more from our
members. I am confident you will rise to the occasion this year.
We plan to have a spring fling luncheon in April and our AGM is
scheduled on May 31. Be sure to save this date on your calendar!
