DHS02 Pascal’s Vases

Objective:

– To demonstrate that the pressure at the bottom of a vessel is proportional to the depth of the liquid and is independent of the volume and shape of the vessel.

Apparatus:

    • Large beaker, 1.8L
    • Manometer and funnel
    • Stand, clamp, Tygon tubing

DHS02 - Pascal's Vases

Method:

Each of the three different shaped glass vases are interchanged. In each case the colored water is adjusted to the water level indicator by moving the water reservoir up or down. Water reservoir can be moved by pinching the two tabs on the reservoir support rod. The pressure gauge for all these experiments will read the same value.
