Objective:
– A working model for studying the principle and operation of an DC brushed electric motor.
Apparatus:
- Demonstration motor
- Power supply (Eico)
- Leads
- Tap switch
Method:
Instructor demonstrates apparatus.
Note:
Flip the armature to the left (clockwise) if it could not start on its own after pressing the tap switch. Also, keep the voltage low (~17V) so it does not wear out the brushes and commutator. Over time carbon buildup could happen on the tap switch and need to be sanded down.
