HAVAN awards four deserving BCIT trades students

The Homebuilders Association of Vancouver (HAVAN) awarded four deserving BCIT Carpentry students scholarships for the 23rd year since the inception of this scholarship at the HAVAN Annual General Meeting. BCIT Associate Dean of Building Design and Construction, David Dunn announced this year’s Carpentry student recipients for the 2024 HAVAN Scholarships – Emma Albaek-Christensen, Jaden Chong, Jonathan Garcia, and Shiying Wang.

Dunn also shared a few words at the AGM, “Skilled tradespeople are essential to homebuilding. The support from HAVAN and its members means so much to our students and educators. These students are our future, and we look forward to seeing their contributions in industry.”

Through HAVAN and its members who sponsored and participated in the Fall Classic Golf Tournament, these four deserving students were able to receive a scholarship amount of $2,500 each. With this scholarship, these future carpenters will be able to contribute to the indispensable construction industry. Their role in homebuilding is crucial for building a strong foundation; erecting wooden structures; bringing designs to life; structural integrity; creativity and attention to detail.

Thank you to HAVAN, the sponsors and members and congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients!
