The 2024 BCIT Student Innovation Challenge has officially launched, and we are calling out to all aspiring visionaries, problem-solvers, and changemakers. This is your chance to showcase your ideas, unleash your creativity, make a difference in the world, and potentially win a cash prize.
The goal of the Student Innovation Challenge is to create an inclusive space for innovation, while encouraging students to turn their bright ideas into prototypes, business plans, or commercial products.
Three categories in the Student Innovation Challenge
The Challenge offers three categories each with three prizes available to win: First Place at $3,000, Second Place at $1,500, and Third Place at $500.
Entrepreneurship
Are you a budding entrepreneur with a vision for the next big thing? This category is your chance to win some money to help grow your innovative product, business, or idea into a viable business venture. Whether you’re developing a groundbreaking product, service, or technology, the Student Innovation Challenge is the perfect platform to help grow your skills and entrepreneurial dreams.
Applied Research
Are you working on a Capstone project, Industry Sponsored Student Project (ISSP) or Directed Studies project? In this category, participants are encouraged to share their applied research projects that address real-world challenges and drive positive change. Whether you’re exploring new technologies, conducting experiments, or analyzing data, the Applied Research category provides a unique opportunity to share your solution to an industry problem.
Sustainability
Do you believe in the power of sustainability to create a better world? This category challenges participants to develop innovative solutions that promote environmental conservation, social equity, and economic prosperity. Whether you’re passionate about renewable energy, waste reduction, or sustainable agriculture, the Sustainability category provides a platform to showcase your ideas for building a more sustainable future.
