BCIT Student Association establishes new bursary in honour of Past President Kathy Kinloch

Earlier this month, the BCIT Student Association (BCITSA) established a new bursary in honour of BCIT Past President Kathy Kinloch. The Kathy Kinloch Leadership Bursary highlights Kathy’s extraordinary impact on students and the BCIT community. The new bursary celebrates Kathy, who retired this June, and her legacy as past President of the Institute and Dean for the BCIT School of Health Sciences (2007 – 2010).

“Thank you to the Student Association for representing and supporting BCIT students,” says Kathy. “I am honoured to be receiving this gift from the SA. I am especially touched knowing through this bursary, I can continue to support students.”

The bursary provides eligible students who are facing hardship with financial support as they pursue their studies. The BCITSA encourages both national and international students to apply. Students can find more information on The Kathy Kinloch Leadership Bursary on BCIT’s website.

“The BCIT Student Association appreciates the leadership that Kathy Kinloch has played in supporting BCIT students,” says Liam, BCIT Student Association President. “It is for this reason that the Executive Board of the BCIT Student Association wishes to honour Kathy with this gift.”

Under Kathy’s leadership, BCIT has made incredible strides. Some of the many initiatives, led by Kathy, include a new Indigenous and Partnership strategic vision, BCIT Health Sciences Centre (set to open this fall), and the expansion of BCIT’s global presence through international partnerships.
