Calling all BCIT Students – Come for a Scan

Are you a BCIT student and interested in Sonography? What we do? How ultrasounds work? What your organs look like? Look no further, you can come and learn for yourself. I have been blogging about Sonography since September but if you want to actually experience it you can come into our lab and get scanned by us students. It allows us to practice and it will be fun for you too. Win win.

All you have to do is comment below. Only I will be able to see your email address and will privately message you.

If you don’t comment below you can approach us at school, we are in the postman blue scrubs in NE01. We are all friendly and won’t bite, we might fight each other to scan you. All you need is to be a current BCIT student and to fill out a consent form with your A number and contact information.

Disclaimer: We are not a trained professional and these scans do not replace a full diagnostic study. There have been times where abnormality or normal variant have been found and a follow up with your doctor may be encouraged.

Here are some scan routines we may perform:

1. Full Abdominal: Aorta, Inferior Vena Cava, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, spleen and kidneys

2. Cardiac

3. Pelvic: Uterus, ovaries, prostate and bladder

4. Carotids

5. Leg Veins

This semester is ending, and the Sonography students will be off to clinicals, but we come back in September. I can help arrange time, date and a student Sonographer. If you have concerns let me know, I will do my best to address them or send you to someone who will be able to help. We have had students come from a wide range of programs at BCIT in the past, such as architect, millwright, x-ray, nuclear med, nursing, med lab, biomedical and even some faculty members. It is a fun experience, you will be able to see what we are seeing. We have dual screens one for the “patient” to use and one for us to use. Give me a shout!

  3. Scaning is best Technology for pets because my pet is sick last month i don’t what happen so vet suggest me go to veterinarian and scan this dog and finally my is good.. Thank for scan inventor

    I am so excited that I found your blog! I’m a little late on this post, but I hope that you will still get in touch with me. I am not a current BCIT student, but a UBC student. I am very set on applying for the Sonography program of September 2019 and would love to come in and meet all of the current students. As well, getting a scan done would be really fun! I hope this is still possible.

    • Hi Ashley,

      You would have to be a BCIT student. We cannot scan UBC students, sorry. I will email you privately and if you have more questions about the program I can try to help you out. If you want to meet us we can talk about that as well or you can come to one of our info sessions where you can meet us and even some of the teachers! We usually have one twice a year.

      I applied this year can you tell me what to focus in MMI and spatial test. How to pass that stage?

      • Hi,

        Congrats on getting an interview, that is great! I can tell you what I did, as I am not allowed to disclose exactly what is on the MMI and spatial test. I looked up multiple mini interviews on the internet for nursing, sonography and med school. I practiced those. I tried to remember why I wanted to be a sonographer and how I care about patients. I also looked up spatial tests on google and practiced those as well.
