April is BC Construction and Skilled Trades Month

Celebrate the 225,000 British Columbians who work in the skilled trades, and the 24,000 employers who support them!

April is BC Construction and Skilled Trades month and to kick things off, BCIT and the British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) proudly co-hosted a breakfast celebration.

Hon. Melanie Mark, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training joined BCIT President Kathy Kinloch, Jack Davidson, Chair, BCIT Board of Governors, Gary Herman, CEO, Industry Training Authority (ITA), Chris Atchison, President, BC Construction Association and Wayne Hand, Dean, School of Construction and the Environment to take a moment to appreciate the construction industry and raise awareness of the job opportunities in the building trades.

                      

BCIT also recognized two deserving recipients of the Construction Month Leadership Award. Congratulations to Stephen Sallaway, Associate Dean, School of Construction and the Environment and Dr. Bishnu Pandey, Faculty, Civil Engineering.
