Earlier this year, the BCIT Mining Engineering team participated in the 2019 Canadian Mining Games with their inaugural appearance to compete against 11 other Canadian Universities in a four day event. With the help and support from BCIT School of Construction and the Environment, Mining Faculty, and company sponsorship, the team traveled to Edmonton, Alberta for their first ever official entry into the competition.
Over the course of four days, Mining Engineering students from across the country attended to apply their skills and knowledge in a competitive and fun atmosphere through both practical and technical events.
The team of 16 BCIT Mining and Mineral Resources students utilized their applied experience gained from BCIT to finish in top placements across six competing events including first place in the Environmental Challenge.
