BCIT recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers 2025

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has been named one of BC’s Top Employers for 2025 by Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This marks the 15th consecutive year in which BCIT has earned this special designation, following its recent inclusion on Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers 2025. Being recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers for 2025 affirms the Institute’s commitment to being a people-focused workplace that fosters vibrant and inclusive communities, while enhancing experiences of connection, wellbeing, and belonging.

Holistic supports to help people succeed

As one of BC’s largest post-secondary institutes with more than 2,800 employees across its five campuses, BCIT remains dedicated to providing holistic supports that help employees thrive. These include professional development opportunities, health and wellness programs, and initiatives aimed at creating a transformative experience where employees are empowered to succeed and grow.

Chris Hudson, BCIT Vice President of People, Culture, and Inclusion, experienced firsthand the transformative impact of BCIT – both as a post-secondary institute that prepares students for career success and as a workplace that fosters professional growth and development.

As a BCIT Human Resources (HR) alum, Chris worked in various HR leadership roles for nearly two decades before returning to his alma mater to further champion and contribute to BCIT’s ongoing success as an inclusive, people-first workplace and post-secondary.

“I came into my role knowing what BCIT can do to change people’s lives and help students,” explains Chris. “People remain one of BCIT’s greatest strengths and this recognition as one of BC’s Top Employers for 2025 is a true testament to that.”

Kristina Urban, Supervisor, BCIT Agile and Work-Integrated Learning, echoes those sentiments. She describes her colleagues as the most rewarding aspect of her job.

“It’s 100 percent the people,” shared Kristina. “I work with some outstanding people and that’s huge because you feel supported in your work and you’re more motivated.”

She adds, “Leadership encourages staff to pursue learning opportunities, whether it’s professional development, taking courses or upgrading our skills.”

An associate certificate in polytechnic teaching and a workshop in difficult conversations are just some of the recent learning and development opportunities that Kristina has completed.
