The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is proud to share its new Strategic Plan for 2025–2030: Future Ready: Student Success for a Complex World.
As the only polytechnic in BC with a unique provincial mandate to prepare career-ready graduates for a dynamic workforce, this Plan reaffirms BCIT’s dedication to student success.
“BCIT has long been a beacon of innovation and resilience. Our new Strategic Plan is not just a roadmap for the next five years – it is a bold declaration of our intent to lead, innovate, and transform the future of education,” said BCIT President Dr. Jeff Zabudsky.
The Plan was developed through extensive consultation and collaboration with key members of the BCIT community – students, employees, alumni, and industry leaders. Rooted in BCIT’s vision of empowering people, shaping BC, and inspiring global progress, the Plan focuses on elevating students’ educational journey through four key commitments:
- Transform teaching and learning experiences to continuously equip students with future-proof skills for a rapidly changing world.
- Catalyze digital transformation to modernize and streamline systems, secure data, and improve experiences and efficiency.
- Foster vibrant and inclusive communities – on and off campus – to enhance experiences of connection, wellbeing, and belonging.
- Enrich partner and industry experiences to amplify student learning and real-world impact.
The Plan also outlines 13 initiatives focused on creating actionable progress and impact across the four key commitments. Every initiative is designed to not only support student success, but also ensure BCIT’s long-term commitment to sustainability, securing a legacy for generations to come.
“At the heart of our Strategic Plan is our unwavering focus on the student experience and their success. Each of us plays a critical role in shaping BCIT’s future. Together, we will rise to the challenge, embracing innovation, collaboration, and resilience to create a lasting impact on our students, their education, and beyond,” noted Dr. Zabudsky.
