BCIT appoints Chris Hudson as Vice President, People, Culture, and Inclusion

BCIT is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Hudson, Vice President, People, Culture, and Inclusion. Chris has been interim in this role since May 2024 and early on has prioritized being accessible, visible, and involved in our community. Chris has and will be focused on bringing new approaches to creating an exceptional employee experience, fostering a culture that recognizes the great pride and diversity of our employees, and building relationships across our community. With support from leaders, Chris will continue to develop BCIT’s People Vision, employee recognition programs, employee experience, while fostering a constructive labour relations environment with our unions.

Chris will continue to provide executive leadership in the areas of Human Resources; Privacy, Information Access, and Policy Management; Safety, Security, and Emergency Management; and Respect, Diversity, and Inclusion. Chris has senior leadership experience in large organizations in both the public and private sectors, including at LifeLabs, National Director of Health, Safety and Labour Relations; and Vancouver School Board, Executive Director, Human Resources. Throughout his decades-long leadership career, he has led many complex negotiations, ranging from collective bargaining, large mergers and acquisitions, and safety culture building.

Chris is passionate about workplace culture, building environments where everyone belongs, feels valued and acknowledged. Chris is proud to champion BCIT’s inclusive work environment and commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Chris himself is a proud BCIT graduate, and will continue to prioritize the interests of our great students and graduates in all our activities.

Outside of work, his greatest joy is spending time with his wife and son, especially supporting his son’s love of soccer out on the pitch!
