Putting people at the core of everything we do is paramount at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. We are committed to ensuring our people — those who make BCIT distinct, are developing while feeling valued, supported, and connected.
BCIT is a people-first organization. We aim to celebrate our employees by sharing their stories through the Our People series. The series features BCIT’s extraordinary employees who share a strong sense of pride and ambition for the Institute and make up our diverse community.

What has been your most memorable moment working at BCIT?
I have many memorable moments at BCIT, but most recently I was presented with the BCIT Student Association (BCITSA) Presidents Award for my contributions towards the BCITSA Food Pantry and BCIT Community Fridge during Convocation in June 2023. Getting acknowledged by my peers for that work and being a part of the collaborative team that supported the initiative for food access on campus means so much to me.
What are projects or initiatives that you have completed at the Institute that you are proud of?
Being a part of the exceptional team of both BCITSA and BCIT staff to get the Community Fridge on campus is very special to me. Big kudos to BCITSA for maintaining the fridge and the entire BCIT community for all the support to keep it stocked and supplied for the students.

What do you enjoy the most about working in post-secondary education?
Working in Applied Research at BCIT is so dynamic. I get to engage with industry leaders, support student initiatives, and connect with the amazing community at BCIT and the team at NRG, all in one place. I love supporting our creative food manufactures here in BC and create a space where I can engage with current industry initiatives and develop solutions to advance the food landscape.
