The BCIT School of Construction and the Environment, BCIT Student Association (BCITSA) Entrepreneurial Services, and BCITSA Career Services collaborated on the annual ASK AN EXPERT: Trades Entrepreneurship Panel 2023.
Made up of successful BCIT trades alumni and entrepreneurs, the esteemed panel spoke to over 60 trades students about their personal experiences and shared essential advice on starting a trades business, key success factors, negotiation techniques, and common pitfalls and traps to avoid.
Thank you to the Trades Entrepreneur panelists who are all BCIT Alumni – Kevin Hatch, Owner, Twin Lions Contracting (BCIT Carpentry); Terence Chan, President, Impetus Plumbing and Heating Ltd. (BCIT Plumbing); Erik Bornestig, President and CEO, Born West Electric (BCIT Electrical); and Brandy Kawulka, Founder, Wood Be Art (BCIT Joinery). We also had a special guest speaker from WorksafeBC, Jaret Swanson, Manager in Construction, OHS Consultation & Education Services.
