It’s the season of giving and finding that perfect gift to appreciate your loved ones is an all-too-common challenge. Look no further—the BCIT Alumni Holiday Market has got you covered.
The BCIT Alumni Association (BCITAA) invites you to shop the third-annual Holiday Market, which runs from November 1 to December 31, 2022. The market features BCIT alumni-owned businesses, many of which are offering special discounts. Make everyone on your list feel appreciated while supporting alumni businesses when you purchase their unique gifts. The gift options run the gamut and include sparkling beverages, artisan desserts, craft beer, soy candles, marble soap bars, and more.
A refreshing present in a bottle
Feeling the desire to gift something other than wine? The Duchess by Coupe Beverages (Olivia Loevenmark, Marketing) is a premium bottled cocktail that comes in an array of flavours and fun shades including pink and yellow.
Another option is Mariner Brewing (Wim Zalm, Marketing). The Coquitlam-based brewery produces unique craft beers that make great gifts for the beer lover in your life.

The gift of self-care and wellness
If you have a loved one who enjoys winding down and lighting a candle, check out Monday Glow Candle (Miranda Fatur, Broadcast and Journalism). The Vancouver-based company offers hand-poured soy candles that set a relaxing mood.
Another local Vancouver company that you can feel good about is Simon’s Soapbox. The brother- and sister-led company makes and sells artisanal soaps using fair-trade shea butter and essential oils. Simon, who has Down Syndrome and his sister Caroline (Business Management) work together to make unique, individual soaps.
Do you have a colleague, friend, or family member who enjoys a cup of tea? Woash Wellness (Cassandra Vantriet, Business Management) creates tea blends and accessories that are rooted in nature to enhance wellbeing. The tea blends will delight the tea-lover in your life.
A carry-all gift
Thebag.ca, founded by Andrew Murray (Business Administration) and his wife, sells stylish, yet sustainable tote bags that are reusable. Present them as gifts or stocking stuffers, and help friends and family show off their neighbourhood pride through this chic tote bag.
You can also find trendy yet sustainable tote bags and clothing items at Cherryberry Creatives (Cherie Dela Cruz, Social Media and Marketing). The online Etsy shop features a range of fashion-forward items, such as t-shirts, canvas bags, stickers, and more.
Indigenous gifts supporting Truth and Reconciliation
For a variety of specially curated gifts that support economic reconciliation by connecting shoppers with Indigenous businesses, check out the gift boxes from Shop First Nations (Rob Schulz, BCIT Computer Systems). Featuring expertly crafted items from Indigenous businesses in BC, the boxes also give shoppers the opportunity to learn more about Indigenous culture and experiences while supporting Truth and Reconciliation with their purchasing power.

The history behind the Holiday Market
The inaugural Holiday Market was introduced in 2020 as a way to support our alumni through a unique year that saw huge upticks in online shopping and the introduction of contactless curbside pick-up as the new norm. The ongoing pandemic and economic climate have continued to pose challenges for many small businesses and our BCIT alumni-owned businesses are no exception. The BCIT Alumni Association is proud to help support our enterprising alumni through the Holiday Market for the third year in a row.
