Congratulations to all the 2022 Women of Distinction nominees and award recipients on your well-earned recognition.
For the past 39 years, the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards seek to honour the outstanding achievements made by extraordinary female leaders and businesses throughout the community. At this year’s fundraising gala in support of a new housing community in Burnaby, more than 1,300 guests and volunteers gathered to celebrate 75 inspiring females and workplaces who are driving change.
As a people-first organization, BCIT is proudly led by by President Kathy Kinloch and a senior leadership team comprised of 70% women and an organization comprised of 50% women. This reflects the BCIT value of championing diversity and inclusion as we inspire future leaders and encourage the advancement of women in leadership positions. In addition, BCIT has been a long-time supporter for the advancement and success of women in trades since the late 1970s. The Trades Discovery for Women program allows students extensive access to trades and technical training in approximately 15 different trades disciplines including general welding, wiring, and general piping.
