EC-Council partnership expands access to cybersecurity certification

“In this era of increasing cyber threats and attacks, there is a growing need for cybersecurity training among computer users, IT professionals, and organizations” -Jennifer Talman, Associate Dean

BCIT Forensics has partnered with the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (“EC-Council”), an accredited certification body, to offer access to certification courses in cybersecurity.

The courses are aimed at law enforcement, working professionals, and investigators who require up-to-date training in network security, ethical hacking, and forensic hacking investigation. EC-Council certifications are widely recognized in the cybersecurity industry.

Developed and administered by EC-Council, the courses are completely online and self-paced.

“In this era of increasing cyber threats and attacks, there is a growing need for cybersecurity training among computer users, IT professionals, and organizations,” explains Associate Dean Jennifer Talman.

“These EC council courses offer a quick and flexible path to gain proficiency in this field.”

FSCT 0210: Certified Secure Computer User (CSCU)

This course is aimed at anyone who uses the internet extensively to work, and covers how to protect information assets and mitigate security exposure.

FSCT 0213: Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI)

This course provides participants with the necessary skills to perform an effective digital forensics investigation. Students should have basic knowledge of computer operating, file, and network systems. Computing problem-solving experience and a keen curiosity will be strong assets.

“CHFI is well-built training aimed to address digital forensics investigators doing their first steps in the field,” explains BCIT Forensics faculty Ilia Lvovski. “The course combines pre-recorded lectures with power points, a very well outlined learning manual, and hands-on practice.”

“This is definitely recommended to junior investigators looking to strengthen their digital forensics skills and knowledge,” says Ilia.

FSCT 0211: Certified Network Defender (CND)

This course is for network administrators, network engineers, and network security analysts who want to learn about Network Attacks and Defense Strategies, Administrative Network Security, and Technical Network Security.

FSCT 0212: Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

Certified Ethical Hacker was designed by EC-Council for those responsible for defending systems. It can help organizations take pre-emptive measures against malicious attacks.
