The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has been named on the Forbes list of Canada’s Best Employers 2022. This prestigious award ranked BCIT in the twelfth place out of 300 organizations and companies from across Canada. As an award recipient, BCIT is recognized for its corporate social responsibility and the impact that the Institute has in its community.
Forbes Canada, in partnership with Statistica Inc., selected the Canada’s Best Employers 2022 through an independent survey applied to a vast sample of more than 10,000 Canadian employees working for companies with more than 500 employees in Canada. The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees that were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. Employee evaluations also included other employers in their respective industries that stood out.
BCIT is a people-first organization
For more than 55 years, BCIT has been delivering flexible, relevant, and future-proof education that prepares learners to provide applied solutions to industry challenges – across BC and around the world. Behind that success is a dedicated team of faculty and staff who help BCIT deliver on its vision to empower people, shape BC, and inspire global progress.
As one of BC’s largest post-secondary institutes and with more than 2,600 employees across its five campuses, BCIT always puts its people at the core of its priorities. Its ongoing emphasis on engagement, leadership, and development is key in creating a sustainable and distinctive culture where employees thrive and feel supported, valued, and connected.
In early January 2022, BCIT launched its inaugural People Vision. The Vision describes the Institute’s goals and priorities for its people. It creates a framework for BCIT to support employee development, build an inspiring workplace, and honour employees’ commitment and impact.
The BCIT Indigenous Vision and Anti-Racism Framework also support in ensuring BCIT is an inclusive and progressive environment for all and its people are empowered to make a positive impact in the community.
Congratulations to all BCIT staff and faculty! This award is a recognition of your success and the impact you’ve made in the BCIT community and beyond.
